Lemon/lime is a well-known, commonly used fruit in almost every cuisine. Though lime and lemon are spoken of in the same breath, they are actually a bit different from each other. Lime is smaller in size, has a thin smooth skin, sweet smell and contains less juice as compared to lemon. Both are excellent sources of free citrus acid, natural sugars, vitamin C, calcium and phosphorus.
* Lime juice is also helpful in cases of chronic constipation, especially, when it is taken as the first thing in the morning in a glass of warm water.
* Lime juice is also excellent for weight reduction. It has a sedative effect on the nerves. Fresh juice of lime and a tsp of honey mixed in a glassful of water should be taken every morning on an empty stomach for obesity. This reduces weight in two or three months’ time.

Lime should not be taken in excess. The alkaline salts of its juice neutralize the free uric acid and precipitate it. This can affect your kidneys.
