Skin care in the 30s

A woman stepping into the 30’s can look vibrant, radiant and as youthful as she was in her 20’s, particularly if she has pampered her skin properly during her 20’s. While some superficial wrinkles may appear, the correct use of skin care products can work wonders, keeping the lines and creases at bay.

Include cleansing, moisturizing and toning to your daily facial routine. Use a good under-eye lotion and select a cream based moisturizer for your face. Exfoliate more often to counteract slower cell turnover. The use of sunscreen, particularly on the face is important, as the skin tends to become dry when you enter your thirties, especially the area around the eyes and lips. However don’t load yourself with heavy anti-ageing creams. The continuous use of these heavy creams will block the pores and the skin cannot breathe freely. As a result, the face will look more dull and lifeless. If acne persists into the 30s, supplement your skin care with an AHA (alpha hydroxyacid) cleanser.

Night time skin care is very important when you step into the 30s. A ‘facial massage’ will work wonders on wrinkles and dryness. Massage your face with upward stokes with a good cold cream enriched with vitamin-E for 5 minutes. Wipe off the extra cream with wet cotton. Now your skin will breathe freely the whole night. In the morning it will look fresh, supple and glowing.

But this maintenance is not enough in your 30s. Now is the time to begin going for facials in a good salon, at least once in a month. This will help to combat dryness of the skin and keep it smooth, glowing and wrinkle-free. Your diet should comprise more of antioxidants, colored vegetables and fruits. Stress makes the skin to age at a faster rate. So try to lead a tension-free life.

Devote some time to hair-care also in the 30’s. As hair tends to get dehydrated with age, it requires massage and conditioning more frequently. Massage your scalp with warm coconut oil at least once in a week. Use a mild shampoo with conditioner. You can also use henna as a natural conditioner, as it will not only condition but also add volume to the hair. Negligence in your hair-care routine and improper diet will play havoc on your hair and might lead to early graying of hair in your 30s. Protect your hair from the harsh rays of the sun to avoid discoloring and drying of hair.

Tips- Exfoliate. The 30s is the decade when cell turnover begins to slow, leading to dullness and uneven skin tone. To counter this slowdown, upgrade your skin care regimen with regular exfoliation. A moisturizing treatment containing alpha-hydroxy-acids (AHAs) will even out skin tone and even diminish the appearance of fine lines.

making proper hydration crucial! Well-hydrated skin repairs itself better and shows fewer signs of aging. If you have dry skin, avoid harsh foaming cleansers, skip the toner, and look for moisturizers with cholesterol, fatty acids (commonly listed on labels as "stearic acid"), and ceramides. Antioxidants are a good addition to your skin care regimen at any age - but if you're not using them by your 30s, it's crucial that you start! They are the best way to fight the skin damage that leads to lines and wrinkles
