Nose hairs dangling out? Trim them with nose hair trimmers

You all must be familiar with this particular  situation! You see an impeccably dressed and otherwise well-groomed person – could even be one of your close friends or a relative. But when you see few nose hairs protruding out of his/her nostrils, you instantly experience a slight shudder and disgust at the person’s indiscretion, while he or she may not even be aware of it. Outwardly it might appear to be a frivolous matter, but surely it’s not something that should be brushed aside as hairs peeking out of the nostrils are extremely distracting and look ostensibly unsightly.

Analyzing Laser Hair Removal

[Sponsored Post] It can be tempting to jump into trying any treatment for body hair you don't want. But when it comes to clinical treatments it is important to understand how they work. That is especially true when it comes to laser hair removal . You have to analyze the process well to make sure it will mesh with your needs and desires. Here's a brief analysis of the main points of the laser hair treatment process.

My waxed hair grows back quickly! Help!

Prema asks: I use cold wax for removing superfluous hair from my legs. According to the instructions on the jar, it should be used once a month. But my hair has grown back within a week. Why is it so? Response: When the hair is not pulled properly or when it has not been gripped firmly by the wax, it breaks just below the skin and surfaces within a week. Normally waxing lasts for about 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the individual hair growth rate. So, there is something wrong with your waxing method. Do read Waxing at home .

Using hair removal creams on eyebrow hair?

Bina asks: On every hair-removing cream container, there is a warning that, it should not be used near the eyes. However I find it very convenient to shape my eyebrows by removing the extra hairs with the cream. Will it affect my skin, later on?

Recent Advancements in Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is one of the best ways to get rid of unwanted hair on multiple parts of your body for long periods of time. Lasers target the hair follicle and heat it until it can no longer grow hair. Clients can get laser hair removal on many parts of their bodies, including arms, legs, the bikini line, and their faces. The procedure was invented relatively recently, in the 1990s, but has undergone significant evolution in the last decade. The most significant advancement is that while 10 years ago only light-colored skin saw dramatic results with lasers, it is now more effective on people with darker skin. The procedure has also become more widespread and less expensive. The professionals that learned the trade in the 1990s have become practiced over the years and provide service that is informed by decades of experience.

Remove Unwanted Facial Hair With This Homemade Oil

Facial hair is something every woman has, for some it's very light and hardly noticeable while for others it's prominent. In some cases it's genetically inherited. If your mother or grandmother had a lot of hair on their bodies, chances are that you may have it too. But for some, it's because their hormones go out of whack, especially for PCOS or PCOD sufferers. Unwanted facial hair is something every girl/woman dreads and often searches for an easy, inexpensive way to remove it. However there are some brave women like Balpreet Kaur who are comfortable with their facial hair and don't give a hoot to what their tormentors think. Even though your facial hair was light and hardly unobtrusive when you were younger, once you are on the wrong side of thirties, hair begins to pop up in the most unlikeliest of places, your chin, nipples and abdomen. This usually happens because there is a slight imbalance in the ratio of female (estrogen) to -male (androgen) ho...

Blisters due to shaving?

Annie asks: I am 19 years old and shave my legs regularly. Of late I have observed small blisters (only blisters, not red bumps) on my leg which are painful. Please advise.

Aftershave Balm vs. Moisturiser

What should you put on your skin after a shave - Aftershave Balm or Moisturiser?  It’s a topic of endless debate among men who are looking for the best solution to dry and irritated skin following a shave. Is it better to use aftershave balm or moisturizer?   Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of each and also consider the underlying assumption which is driving the question.

How to Prevent Ingrown Hairs on Your Bikini Line

Contrary to popular belief, women don't only think about their bikini lines during the hot summer months. Grooming is popular year-round.  If you shave or wax your bikini line it is likely that you have suffered through painful, itchy, unattractive ingrown hairs.  Ingrown hairs can lead to an infection of the follicle known as Folliculitis.  They are caused when hair gets trapped beneath skin and becomes infected with bacteria. Luckily there are several ways to prevent ingrown hairs on your bikini line.

Waxing Vs. Laser Hair Removal

Most women (and men) start the lifelong battle against unwanted body hair with the least effective methods around, including plucking , razors, and depilatory creams. These methods tend to be inexpensive and easy to do at home, even for the novice, and if you make a mistake and take off too much hair, you don't have to worry because it will return within a matter of days. Of course, this also means that you will frequently have to repeat these procedures if you want to keep certain areas hair-free. And you may also have to deal with issues like razor burn , in-grown hairs, or itching and redness associated with chemical depilatories. Luckily, we live and learn and discover that there are more effective (and longer-lasting) ways to remove hair. But when it comes to getting waxed versus having hair removed by laser, how can you decide which is right for you?

The Epilator: Smoother than You'd Think

You don't really appreciate the importance of efficient hair removal until you move in with someone. When you're dating, you can just pretend that you're just naturally hairless. You spend the odd Saturday at a salon or in the bathroom burning, then stripping your legs. Then you spend the rest of the time pretending it was never there in the first place. If you remove regularly, your significant other will never know what sort of hairy animal you really are. It’s not so easy once you move in. During those first few months, you have this inconvenient impulse to spend all of your waking hours with your new roomie. It’s blissful, but there’s no time to get rid of the forest erupting from your skin. You can get up at four in the morning on a Saturday but then you have to explain your afternoon naps and the wax all over the sink. Shaving isn't really an option for those of us with stubbornly tenacious hair. By the time you dry off, those prickly hairs start rearing thei...

Waxing's Best For Toe Hair

I hate to admit this, but I have some superfluous hair growing abundantly on my toes and a few straggly ones at the centre of my feet. I usually use a hair removing cream or a razor to get rid of that obnoxious fuzz. But those puny hairs have the audacity to pop up immediately in a few days time.

Ease waxing pain with LMX 4, a topical anesthetic cream

Cold wax review

Sometime back, I had purchased cold wax to remove superfluous hair from my legs. I don’t remember the brand, but certainly it wasn’t one of those stick and peel pre-coated cold wax strips. It was a container and the stuff inside it was in a semi-solid state. I had to purchase thin cotton strips separately for this purpose. (You could try Fantasea Non-Woven Facial & Body Wax Strips .) I spread out the wax on my legs with a spatula, pressed the cotton strips and pulled the hair off quickly in the opposite direction of hair-growth; it left my skin red and irritated and I must say it was horribly painful and hurt like hell. I did manage to remove all of the hair and my legs were hair-free for more than a month, but the whole process of waxing was very very painful and I resolved never to use store-bought cold wax again or for that matter wax my legs ever again. No Marks cream: Review

A few years back, a really bad attack of pimples had left behind a few scars on my face. At that time, I had purchased ‘No Marks Cream’. If I remember correctly, this cream had several natural ingredients such as Aloe , Damask Rose (Rosa damascena), Turmeric (Haldi) , Sandalwood (Chandan) , Tulsi (Basil) and wheat germ oil to name a few and besides doing away with scars and other blemishes , this cream’s formulation was supposed to diminish and gently fade under eye dark circles , post pimple marks, minor burn marks and stretch marks.

Ayur Silky Instant Bleach with Rose: Review

I don’t use crème bleach on my face quite often, partly because my skin is sensitive and acne-prone. It’s only during special occasions that I opt for bleaching, that too, to brighten up my face and conceal light facial hair. Sometime back, when I had to attend a function, I decided to bleach my face two days prior to the event. It’s always a good idea to try anything, say, coloring your hair, going in for a professional facial, tweezing your brows , plucking /threading your upper lip hair, and of course applying bleach on your face a couple of days before any big event so that you do not sport an unnatural look. I had purchased ‘ Ayur Silky Instant Bleach with Rose ’ for this purpose and as per the instructions applied it to my face carefully. (You may read this post on step-by-step instructions for applying cream bleach .) I left it for 25 minutes and after I washed my face found that it had done little to conceal facial hair and blend them to suit my skin-tone. And as...

Bleaching facial hair: the herbal way

If you are not comfortable using chemical bleaches to bleach your facial skin, then you may want to try this herbal bleach. Lime and honey are known to have a mild bleaching effect on hair. You can repeat this treatment once every week. Though it is a slow gradual process it comes off as an effective, harmless treatment. Recipe #1 Ingredients: 1 tsp of Honey 1 ½ tsp of cream 1 tsp of lemon juice Method: Mix the cream and honey well. Add in lemon juice. Apply on face and wash off with lukewarm water. Recipe #2 Ingredients: 2 tsp of milk or milk cream (malai) Juice of 1 lemon Method: Combine together and rub on face gently. Leave it on for 20-25 minutes and then rinse off.

Can laser hair removal scar you for life?

If you are thinking of going in for laser hair removal to get rid of your unwanted hair permanently, be aware of the pros and cons of the treatment as well as the risks involved. Lasers can be extremely dangerous in wrong hands. Getting a laser treatment at an unlicensed clinic and under people with no medical training can be very risky. Two women Paula, an investment banker from London and Sinem Morgan, a software manager from London were left with second-degree burns, blisters and excruciating pain after undergoing a few such sittings at a laser clinic. Some skins are just not suitable for lasers. If used on the wrong type of skin, lasers can cause serious burns and lasting pigment damage. They can also damage the eyes and cause blindness. Lured by eye-catching advertisements that promise a permanent hair-removal, people flock to such unscrupulous clinics only to be return dissatisfied with the results not to mention the exorbitant expenses involved. In most cases, the hair r...

Ease razor bumps with this terrific cucumber-yoghurt soother

I don’t prefer waxing as a method of hair removal. Undoubtedly, it gives hair-free arms and legs for weeks together, but I find it so painful, cumbersome and messy.  The other reason for disliking it is that I have a sensitive skin which tends to break into rashes soon after I wax.

Home-made after-shave lotion

If you find waxing your arms and legs painful and messy, you can consider shaving . Shaving is one of the quickest and easiest methods of hair-removal, with the added advantage of getting the top layer of the skin mildly exfoliated. Exfoliation is one of the ways that rids the skin of dead cells and keeps it fresh and glowing. Unlike waxing, one doesn’t have to wait for hair to grow to a certain length. Also, one can shave at any time in the comforts of one’s home. A very convenient way to feel and look clean. And, contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t make your hair grow thicker and darker. It is pretty safe and can be resorted to even when one is undergoing laser treatment. In fact, it is best to freshly shave the area just prior to treatment. Shaving is best done while you bathe. Soaking in a warm bath or shower for a few minutes softens the hair so that it is easier to cut. Use a mild soap or shaving foam to work up lather on the surface of the skin. This moisturizes and pr...

How to apply cream bleach

Generally, facial hair and for that matter even hair on the arms have a sparse growth but nevertheless they need to be tackled if one wants to sport a feminine hair-free look. Plucking , waxing or shaving is not quite suitable for facial hair. For those who have hairy arms and legs, waxing is just perfect.   Waxing , as you know, guarantees smooth, hair-free arms and legs for a month or even more sometimes depending on your individual hair-growth pattern. Bleaching is ideal for facial hair. Being an effective and painless method, it merely lightens the color of the hair, making it less conspicuous. Facial hair and hair on the arms are barely visible after a bleaching session.

Waxing at home

Waxing is a neat method of removing superfluous fuzz from the legs, arms and upper lips. Though the process takes longer and is more complicated than shaving, one session can keep you hair-free for four to six weeks. On the flip side, you have to wait till the hair is 1/4 th inch long before the next session. Some others may experience ingrown hairs, red rashes, and minor bleeding. Home-made wax Ingredients: A cup of sugar Sour lime Method: Melt the sugar, taking care that it does not stick. Keep stirring until you see it melting and start adding the juice of lime. When you see it foaming and becoming thicker, take it off the fire and let it cool. Apply only when warm, as hot wax can burn the skin badly. Smooth the wax on the skin in the direction of the hair growth with a flat blunt knife. Let it set. Then take a strip of cloth, press it well on the wax-covered skin and strip it off in the opposite direction of hair growth. Make sure that before waxing, your ski...

Shaving hair

It is generally the fastest method for legs and underarms. If you are using an ordinary shaver, never shave dry. Lather soap of shaving cream on to your skin and hair. (Best time for shaving hair is while having bath.) However, if you use an electric shaver, powder the skin first. It dries the skin and helps the shaver glide smoothly. After shaving your skin may feel slightly uncomfortable, apply a mild soothing cream.

Plucking your hair

Plucking with tweezers is almost exclusively reserved for the eyebrows , but it is a good way to remove stray hair on any part – on the chin and above the lips. As plucking can be a rather painful process, the skin should be held tight and the hair should be plucked in the direction of the growth. Then pat on an astringent. Plucking against the direction of the hair growth can cause the hair to break at the skin surface and so would reappear sooner. Plucking in the wrong direction can distort the follicle or root. This may result in the hair growing at a different angle. However the hairs which emerge from the moles and warts should not be plucked. If they are unsightly, simply, cut them short against the skin. del.icio.us tags: Hair pic source:amazon.com
