Honey and Lemon: 2 Things From Your Kitchen To Stop Gum Disease

Gum disease is also known as periodontal disease and it affects millions of people worldwide. As soon as you enter your 30s you become vulnerable to developing gum disease. Gum disease can be a a minor problem that causes a little inflammation of the gums, and it can also be a major problem that causes serious damage to the soft tissue and bones that support your teeth.

Gum disease is nothing you should take lightly so it is important to take care of your teeth and gums if you don't want the problem to get worse. The worse case scenario is that your teeth will completely fall out if you don't take care of the problem as soon as you can.
The main cause of gum disease is bacteria, which everybody has in their mouth due to particles left behind from the food we eat throughout the day. This is why your mother used to always tell you to brush your teeth every morning and every night, especially at night because bacteria is most active when you go to sleep at night.

If you don't brush your teeth and floss, the bacteria will cause plaque, which will lead to gingivitis. Gingivitis will cause your gums to be inflamed and bleed easily. Gingivitis is the first stage of gum disease that will cause your gums to turn red and hurt. If you don't take care of gingivitis the gum disease will become worse and become periodontitis.

When your gums reach this point it will cause your teeth to pull away from your gums and cause bacteria to enter enter your gum line. It is important when you see signs of gingivitis you quickly take action to stop the disease from becoming worse.

Some of the signs you need to look out for include pain while chewing food, sensitive teeth, bad breath, bleeding gums, shrinkage of gums, longer looking teeth, and swollen gums. Take a look at some home remedies that will help you if you notice any of these symptoms so you can stop the disease in its tracks and save your teeth.

Honey Honey has some great anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that will treat gum disease effectively. When you get done with brushing your teeth and flossing you can take some raw, uncut honey and massage gently into your gums. Honey will adhere to your infected gums and start killing bacteria and reducing gum inflammation. After ten minutes or so, rinse your mouth with lukewarm water.

Lemons Lemons are effective for gum disease because it is packed with vitamin C, which has great antioxidant properties that works to help remove periodontal disease. Vitamin C deficiency can make you more vulnerable to gum disease so it makes sense to increase your Vitamin C intake.
Simply combine 3 tablespoons of lemon juice with a little salt to create a paste. Take this paste and apply it directly onto your infected gums around your teeth and allow it to sit for ten minutes. After ten minutes rinse your mouth using some warm water.

Along with these two home remedies you should actively do things to prevent the disease from getting worse. Drink as much water as you can throughout the day so you flush out bacteria before it gets stuck on your gums. Use a mouthwash as much as you can. The best mouthwash to use will have cetylpridinium chloride as an active ingredient, because it will help knock off the plaque when you gargle.

There are plenty of other remedies you can use to get rid of gum disease naturally. Once you can keep gum disease in check and keep your gums and teeth healthy you will have that perfect smile you always wanted.

Most of the same natural treatments you can use for gum disease you can also use for acne, and you can find them at naturalacnemed.com, a site providing home remedies to get rid of acne.
