For late periods or irregular periods

Those women who have a problem of a late period or whose periods are irregular or those who have scanty menstruation should take aloe gel mixed with jaggery every morning on an empty stomach a week before the expected date.

Amennorrhea or oligomenhorrhea is a result of imbalance of hormones. Aloe gel works to balance the in-vitro secretion of hormones like oestrogen and progesterone and is extremely beneficial in these cases.

Also aloe gel is an emmanogogue and  jaggery is considered a warm food as per Ayurveda and this combination can induce periods on time.

For painful periods

For those suffering from excessive pain during menstruation such as stomach cramps, back pain, abdominal distension etc. should take aloe gel with honey. Do this for 3 weeks on an empty stomach. Aloe gel relieves pelvic congestion, improves circulation and eases cramps, hence a boon for menhorragia.

For white Discharge (Leucorrhea)

Leucorrhea or white discharge can occur for a variety of reasons. It can also be due to microbial infection in the vagina. Since aloe vera is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, oral intake or vaginal use of pure aloe gel can cure this infection and prevent discharge.

Also aloe has the ability to tone up the uterine tissue, balance hormones and does help prevent the discharge of any abnormal fluids. Also it helps subsiding symptoms such as fatigue, restlessness and irritation that accompanies leucorrhea.

Red Aloe More Preferable in Home Remedies For Menstrual Issues.

The other day, I was watching a health program on television in which an Ayurvedic doctor suggested that it is preferable to use red variety of aloevera in home-remedies for tackling menstrual issues.

Red aloe or Aloe cameronii is a beautiful type of aloe of African origin. Its leaves are a rainbow of colors ranging from green to coppery red, depending on sun and water and, over time, form beautiful red-purple mounds with orange flowers. [Source: 1, 2].

If you can procure red aloe, it's well and good but if you can't get it, then you can make do with the green variety. According to the Ayurvedic doctor, red aloevera is slightly more potent than the green one in relieving menstrual problems.

To beat breast pain

For pain in the breasts during PMS, lactation / milk-swollen breasts or after a still birth or a miscarriage, you can apply semi-solid aloe gel over the breasts and cover it with a thin piece of cloth or cupped cabbage leaves.

Read more about it in Cabbage-Home Remedies.

External application of Aloevera may sometimes cause allergies, so it is advised to test on a small part of the skin first.

Aloe gel for stretch marks

Stretch marks occur when you have loose skin due to excessive weight loss or if you have gained weight and is most commonly seen during pregnancy.

Initially they may appear red and inflamed but with time they tend to fade and come pretty close to your original skin tone. But still they do look unsightly.

So if you act on it during the early stages, chances are that it will diminish sooner. Aloevera, is extremely beneficial to the skin  and can repair skin fibres and tissues and hence is one of the best natural remedies to reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

Especially during pregnancy, when you are sure to get stretch marks, you should begin to apply aloe gel from the later half of your pregnancy and continue for a few months even after delivery.

Usually stretch marks will appear on the abdomen, near the breasts and on the buttocks; so start applying pure aloe gel on all these parts regularly twice a day. Those stretch marks that are already there will fade overtime and the new ones will heal quickly leaving little or no marks.

You can make aloe gel more potent to combat stretch marks by adding vitamin-E oil (or else squeeze the contents of vitamin- E capsules into the aloe gel) along with the addition of some olive oil.

For coping with menopause

During peri-menopause or menopause, a woman goes through a lot of physical and emotional trauma.

Regular intake of Aloe Vera juice helps reduces symptoms in that period like hot flushes, night-sweating, poor concentration, fatigue, poor sleepstress etc. It also help flush out the toxins and keep the system clean.

Aloe juice to pep you up

To feel energetic the whole day, instead of aerated and caffeinated drinks, fruit juice is highly recommended for women. You can add 1-2 tsp of aloe juice to any of the juices like pomegranate juice, apple juice, orange juice, lime juice etc.

This will help you fight fatigue and keep you fresh the whole day. Or else you can add 1-2 tsp of juice a glass of water, mix it with some honey or jaggery and have it.

Other Aloe vera - health and beauty benefits

You can find a comprehensive list of other benefits of aloevera in the above mentioned post. Rub on pallid skin or a blistered back, the succulent, skin soothing aloevera is your skin's best friend. Whether it if for oily skin, acne, blemishes, sunburn, gas trouble, dandruff, frizzy hair - you name it, aloe has a remedy for it!
