9 Ways to Pamper Yourself While On Vacation

Vacation is a time for treating yourself. It’s a time where you should be able to get exactly what you want whenever you want it. Are you having trouble figuring out where to start?

Here are nine different things you can do to pamper yourself while you are on your next vacation.

Pamper Yourself While On Vacation
A week at the beach? Yes please!
1. Full Service Accommodations If you really want to relax while you are on vacation, you’ll want to choose a hotel or resort that has everything you might want. This way, you won’t have to spend half of your time schlepping from one destination to the next. The Lotus Honolulu, for example, gives you the inviting atmosphere of home while also offering in-room massage, free continental breakfasts, etc.

2.  Start Early If you can afford it, start pampering yourself from the moment you leave the house. Take a car (town, not taxi) to the airport, fly first class, try to get a direct flight, etc. The less stressful your traveling, the easier it is going to be to really enjoy your vacation as soon as you get to your destination. Treat yourself to the same accommodations on the way home.

3. Splurge on Some Luxury Go for the suite instead of the standard room. A suite will be more comfortable to relax in. The actual furniture will be more comfortable, and you’ll have more than just a bed to sit on when you want to sit down or stretch out. The bathroom will likely be much better as well, with a bigger (potentially even a whirlpool) tub for soaking in, a better shower, etc.

4. Invest in a Kindle or e-Reader You’re going to want to have something to read while you are on vacation. Why load down your luggage with heavy books if you don’t have to? A Kindle (or other e-Reader) will allow you to bring tons of books and magazines with you so that whatever you decide you want to read, you’ll have it at your fingertips—without requiring a whole extra suitcase.

5. Take Your Time One of the biggest stressors for vacationers is the worry that they won’t have enough time to do all of the things they want to do. Give yourself at least a day longer than you think you will need. This way you don’t have to rush around or overextend yourself.

6. Take the Right Vacation Don’t let anybody—friends, family, travel agents, hotel concierges, anybody—plan your vacation for you. Everybody means well—they want you to see and do the things they think you’ll like. Maybe you really will enjoy all of them, but remember: This is your vacation. If you want to spend the whole time sitting by the pool and reading, do that. If you want to visit every coffee shop in town, do that. If you’re worried about meeting other people's expectations, you won’t be able to relax and really treat yourself.

7. Take a Spa Day There are great spas in every vacation destination—some of them are right in your hotel. The quiet and accommodating atmosphere will help you feel relaxed and taken care of while you are there and then, thanks to the treatments you’ll receive, you’ll feel invigorated and gorgeous when it’s time to leave. For some, spending the day at the spa and having someone see to their every need is the best part of their entire vacation.

8. Put the Diet and Work-Out Routine on Hold If you’re constantly worried about your calorie count or whether or not you’ll be able to get in a run, you won’t be able to fully relax and enjoy your trip. By putting the regular diet and exercise routines on hold, you’ll be free to sample and indulge in all of the local cuisine and treats you want. This is the time when you do whatever you want and indulge in your most basic desires. It’s okay to be gluttonous. You can work it off when you get home.

9. Ship, Don’t Pack Every vacation should involve at least a little bit of shopping. You could pack an extra, empty suitcase to accommodate this wish. Or, you could simply ship everything back home so you don’t have to worry about packing or carrying it. Some stores will even do the shipping for you for an extra fee. When you think about what it costs to check luggage, particularly if it’s weighty, it might even be cheaper for you to just send everything home via the mail!

These are just some of the ways that you can really pamper and spoil yourself while you are on vacation. You’ll probably think of plenty more as you get closer to your departure date!
