Lasers for Toe Nail Fungus?

Toe Nail Fungus is a common problem that affects most people and men are four times more likely to get it. Vicks VapoRub as an ointment for this malady is believed to offer some relief. Similarly the application of pure henna (Mehendi) paste continuously for a fortnight on the affected toe nail also yields good results. But home-remedies don't work in some instances. In such cases, it's better to consult a doctor who'll probably prescribe antifungal drugs. However the healing procedure is extremely slow and sometimes it might even take up to a year or sometimes more not to mention the side-effects of the medications.

Now researchers have devised a novel method - to use lasers to treat toe nail fungus. We've heard of lasers being used to treat acne scars, pigmentation marks and unwanted hair removal - but lasers to zap toe nail fungus - that's something new.  Seems like lasers are being put to multiple uses these days. Unlike conventional lasers, which use heat doctors working on this are using ‘cold’ laser beams to vaporise nail fungus. According to this DM article, this intense light is said to work by breaking down the fungal cells. The best thing about this cold laser treatment is that it is literally pain-free and has no side effects. Although the fungus is vaporised and killed within minutes, results are not immediately visible as it can take several months for the diseased nail to grow out and be replaced by a new,  healthy nail. While some patients require only one session, others may have go through multiple sessions to be fully cured.

Home remedies for sleeplessness

The day dawns beautifully for those who have had a night of good sleep. But the same day drags on for those who have spent a disturbing, sleepless night. Sleep is a biological necessity even as eating and drinking are. Sufficient sleep renders a person normally sociable, lively and high-spirited. It’s a nature’s way of rejuvenating the person for the next day. Realize all this, and make sleep a physiological habit. The consequences of long time sleep deprivation can be very grave. Lack of sleep takes its toll on the skin and hair. It causes acne-breakouts and makes one look aged and haggard beyond years. Experts opine that during sleep as our metabolic rate falls, blood goes to those areas which need the most repairing. This also steps up the production of collagen and keratin, which aid the regeneration of skin cells and help resist premature ageing. So for a younger looking and a problem free skin you need to have a good quality of sleep every night.
