Patanjali Aloevera Gel Review

Aloevera - the list of health and beauty benefits of this herb are endless. Instead of mentioning  it all over again, I would like to point you out to the post Aloevera- The wonder herb which  has an extensive list of its multifarious uses.

Long time back, I purchased Patanjali Aloevera Gel / Baba Ramdev Aloevera Gel from a Patanjali outlet and this review was long overdue. I've been using this gel since last one year. Yes it lasted me that long!

As you can see, it comes in a sturdy tube with a flip cap. When you squeeze out the gel from the tube, you can see that it's greenish in color. When you apply it to your skin, it feels sticky at first but gets absorbed into it easily when you gently rub it in.

alovera gel on hand

Let me just list out how I used it:

Post threading

My eyebrows are quite thick and my beautician takes hell of a time to get them into proper shape and the pain is unbearable even though I do take precautions. So after a torturous eyebrow-threading session, I apply this aloe gel over that area and it calms and cools that part immediately.

Post-waxing

I usually wax my legs and underarms once in 2-3 months and the though the pain is quite bearable, after a waxing session, it leaves my skin raw. So I just slather on this gel in generous amounts all over my battered skin and get an instant cool feeling.

If you experience extreme pain during waxing, there is this topical anaesthetic cream called LMX4, which numbs the skin. However, I guess you need a doctor's prescription for this.

While I reiterate that waxing is one of the best ways to be hair-free for several weeks, it does have its drawbacks. Like, for instance, after 2-3 weeks after waxing when the new hair slowly starting popping out of your skin, you do experience some itching - sometimes this itching is intense.

During such times, I slather it all over those itchy areas and experience immediate relief. (Also read Remedy for itchy, irritated & burning underarms)

For post-pimple scars and pigmentation.

I haven't used it on my facial skin as such or on post-pimple marks. I guess you'll have to use it for a long time to actually see the results. But, yes, I did apply it once or twice to calm redness from pimples and it did feel good.

For rashes due to bleaching

I have stopped bleaching my skin long time back. But if you do get rashes after bleaching, after 24 hours or so, you can apply this gel on your facial skin. It is sure to provide some respite. (Also read Bleaching your skin? Follow these dos and donts)

For getting soft hair and and taming frizzy hair.

I would rather use fresh gel extracted from the plant for this purpose. Topical application of fresh aloe gel might not suit all, but you can use it on hair without any issues.

Just extract some aloe gel from a plant and massage it all over your hair and wash off after 15 minutes. Your hair will be soft and glossy.

But for those, who don't have an aloe plant or are too lazy to extract the gel, you can use this Baba Ramdev aloe gel on your hair with almost similar results.

For minor burns and scalds

When I spilled hot tea on my hand or inadvertently touched a hot vessel, I slathered on this gel and experienced immediate relief. So it's a great antidote for minor burns as well.

By the way, honey also does a great job in such circumstances. You can also use this gel on mosquito or insect bites for some respite.

For suntan, sunburn etc

I am not sure whether it will remove the tan but it won't do any harm if you apply it on your tanned skin. Once when I had been out in the hot sun without adequate protection for my arms, the skin felt flaky and parched.  When I applied aloe gel to it, it lapped up instantly as if it was just the thing it wanted and my skin felt soothed.

For soft hands

Whenever I do the dishes or work in the garden, I do get an urge to pamper my hands. So I leisurely apply copious amounts of Patanjali Aloe vera gel all over my arms and along my palms and gently massage it in. My hands feel nourished and moisturized.

At times, I pamper my legs in a similar way by massaging it gently into my skin. I have combination to oily skin and this gel works wonders for my skin.  (Also read Nourishing routine for hands, Home Remedies for hardened palms and Pamper your feet)

Now for the not so nice part! Though it claims to be a natural product, it does have preservatives, which I believe is indispensable for a product like this and in any case most products do have it but the presence of fragrance could have been avoided.

Overall, I have no issues with Patanjali Aloe Gel.  It's a multi-purpose product which provides good value for money. However I wish it would be available in a smaller size as well.

Pore shrinking mask recipes from home

A face with large open pores when seen from close quarters doesn’t look so good. While it’s quite common for oily skins to have a tendency towards open pores, an attack of pimples also leaves ugly scars and open pores behind.  Even though the scars may fade away after some time, open pores appear to be more obstinate and hardly show any signs of shrinking.  Age also takes its toll by giving an uneven/pigmented tone to the skin and making the open pores more prominent. Heredity could also be a contributing factor in determining your pore size. It’s not easy to get rid of these pores or shrink them completely or permanently using serums, lotions or face packs. Even resorting to drastic chemical/surgical procedures at the dermatologist’s isn’t quite capable of giving satisfactory results.  Nevertheless, you can try and minimize their appearance at least temporarily with clever makeup and a few natural skin care masks such as these: * Cleanse your face with a mild ...
