Home remedies for fever

Everyone has suffered from fever sometime or the other. Just a few days ago, I was suffering from cold and a slight fever and that reminded me of a few home remedies which my grandmother used to suggest for minor ailments. Instead of rushing to a doctor, I tried out some of these remedies and it gave me relief. My fever was a mild one, but you all exercise caution. A doctor’s consultation is a must to know the exact diagnosis on the type of the fever, especially in case of children, as they may develop convulsions. Try out these simple remedies only in mild cases of fever or along with the doctor’s treatment. However remember that these home remedies are not a substitute for a doctor’s treatment, they just provide relief and protect you from the side-effects of the pills.

Common Cold & Fever: The leaves of Tulasi (Basil) are specific for many fevers. Orange is an excellent food in all types of fever when the digestive power of the body is seriously hampered. The patient suffers from blood poisoning called toxemia, and the lack of saliva results in the coating of his tongue, often destroying his thirst for water as well as his desire for food. The agreeable flavor of orange juice helps greatly in overcoming these drawbacks. Orange juice is the ideal liquid food in fevers. It provides energy, increases urinary output, and promotes body resistance against infections, thereby hastening recovery.

A tea made from fenugreek seeds is equal in value to quinine in reducing fevers. This tea should be taken twice daily. It is particularly valuable as a cleansing and soothing drink. Fenugreek seeds, when moistened with water, become slightly mucilaginous, and hence, the tea made from them has the power to dissolve a sticky substance like mucus.

he best natural remedy is local honey- this must be from the area in which you live. Take a teaspoon at least once a day.It will help your body develop immunity to any pollen, mold, and other irritants that cause you problems. It helps me with cat dander as well as the above. You will also, over time, notice that you get fewer colds and flu symtoms. Give it a month or so before you expect results.

a fever is the body's natural reaction to rid itself of something, a bacteria, virus, or something else. to reduce fever, you can give her ibuprofen, follow the dosage instructions on the bottle. since shes having sinus pain and coughing, a decongestant and cough suppressant might help, but be careful! a lot of these cold medicines have ibuprofen in them.

Cut a medium sized grapefruit in half and place in a saucepan. Cover with water and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, and allow to cool to room temperature. Wring out the grapefruit half into the water, and discard rind. You may add 1 tsp Feverfew herb, or 1tsp Echinacea herb to the water while cooling, to make an infusion. Strain before drinking. The tea will be bitter, so add a little honey to sweeten. Grapefruit rind is a natural source of Quinine.

There is nothing that will make the flu go away any faster than what your body can heal itself. On the average, it takes 7-10 days for this to happen. But, healthy diet, rest, lots of fluids never hurts and most of the time, helps your body recover.
