Star Wars – Worst and Best Costumes

Moving into 2016, the Star Wars franchise is now 38 years old. And in those 38 years, we have been entertained with some excellent cinematography, visual effects, and costumes. Episode VII included new characters and new costumes as well. Fans nowadays pay very close attention to how the characters dress up in movies. Nothing can be hidden from fans who know about the franchise inside out. They know what is missing and what is changed. That’s why the directors make sure they stick to the true to the original source and try their best to adapt to the character’s look.

Star Wars is one of the top franchises in the world of Hollywood. So many legendary actors have been casted in the movie series. Some are even irreplaceable. It’s no surprise that any costume event you would go to, you would find many people where a costume from one of the Star Wars films. Whether it is a Stormtrooper, Darth Vader, or Princess Leia, you will see a Star Wars costume. To be honest, there have been people who couldn’t pull off the look as nicely as expected. Of course, that can be overlooked because there are many elements that are included in some costumes to hold it together and make it look authentic.

You may or may not agree with the list but there are some costumes that a bit off in terms of fashion and adoptions. With all due respect, to the Star Wars comics and its movies, here are a few worst looking and best-looking costumes in Star Wars. We start with the not so good-looking Star Wars costume.

This bounty hunter may have his armor customized with heavy-duty weaponry, but the color of his costume was a huge question. It looked too simple on him as you can see in the image above. That was Boba Fett in one of the Star Wars films. He appeared in Attack of the Clones, Return of the Jedi, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Clone Wars. He may look badass in the comics but on the big screen, he lost his intimidating personality.

Very few people have the confidence to try on this guy’s costume. The handful of people who try on Jabba the Hutt’s costume is because he is a very dominant gangster. He appeared in The Phantom Menace, The Clone Wars, and Return of The Jedi. The directors did their level best in recreating a scary Jabba costume. However, when it comes to making it a Halloween costume, it isn’t going to be anyone’s first choice.

This was the ultimate disappointing costume. The main reason is that she is supposed to be the Queen and a leader. Having appeared in Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, and The Clone Wars, Padme Amidala looked more of a leader whose dressing and makeup sense wasn’t very good. Her look was way over the top when she was sitting on the throne. It’s safe to say that her warrior look was better than her royal look.

Wearing a spacesuit to fly your plane seems legit but wearing it as a costume to go into battle is somewhat strange. When it comes to Poe Dameron, there was a slight confusion regarding which was his initial costume, the spacesuit, or the brown jacket that Finn wore. His orange jumpsuit didn’t make anyone think that he’s a highly skilled commando, since he was good on the ground as well in the air. Customizing the gun holster and bullets in his suit was a great idea but not very eye-catching.

These were some of the worst looking costumes from the Star Wars movie series. Now we move on to the best looking ones.

Darth Vader might be a villain but he is a hot favorite when it comes to his costume. He appeared in The Empire Strikes Back, Revenge of the Sith, Return of the Jedi, and Star Wars Rebels. Vader’s dark, alien like costume is what made him look cool. He is a total badass. His appearance would make everyone go like “wow!” Darth Vader will forever be one of the best-looking villains. Many people want to have the perfect costume and they are willing splash tons of cash on it.

He only appeared in The Phantom Menace and The Clone Wars but his look was enough to mesmerize the audience. A devilish like appearance, Darth Maul had intimidation written all over him. Who wouldn’t want to dress as an evil guy and look awesome? His overall appearance is what made him enter the list. The red and black designs on the body with a dark robe and lightsaber would intimidate anyone.

Even if we try to forget about Han Solo, we can’t. After the climax of Episode VII, Han Solo will always be remembered. Being the poster boy of the franchise, Han Solo needed to look like one. The reason why he’s on the list is that his costume looks very classy and fashionable. Whether it was in The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi or The Force Awakens, he carried out his attire perfectly. He is another favorite choice for costume events.

Finn’s costume from the latest Star Wars movie really does look like modern soldier. His leather jacket with black trousers and t-shirt perfectly represents the story’s background. Regardless how the movie was or if there were too many family drama, the fact that Finn looked better in this costume than his Stormtrooper look, made him earn his spot on the list. Honestly speaking, this costume looked better on him than on Poe Dameron.

Well guys, this is my take on the worst and best-looking costumes from the Star Wars film. If you have other suggestions about who should be on the list and in which category then do comment. Also, if you’ll haven’t watched The Force Awakens, do take out time and watch. An excellent film guarantees you entertainment and a huge unexpected surprise, so do watch.
