Facial scrubs for oily skin

man applying scrubOne of the things recommended by cosmetologists to keep your skin looking young is periodic exfoliation. Using scrubs to mildly exfoliate the upper layer of the skin of dead cells works quite well to improve the texture of the skin. Dead skin buildup over a period of time often results in a patchy looking skin. Scrubbing will help to even out such skin discoloration, to some extent. Oily skin needs more scrubbing than other skin types. However, do not use harsh, abrasive ones and don’t scrub your skin too vigorously. Here are some excellent homemade facial scrub recipes for oily skins. A tired, sluggish face will brighten up instantly after using these.

Carrot scrub

Ingredients:

Grated carrot – 2 tsp
Lime juice – 1 tsp
Honey – ½ tsp
Brewer’s yeast – 1 tsp
Almond oil – ½ tsp

Method:

Mix all the ingredients well and apply all over your face, leaving the under eye area and the area around the mouth and massage gently with your fingers in circular motions. Leave on for 7-10 minutes and wash off with cold water. Do not use this if you have acne/pimples. If your skin is extremely oily, skip using almond oil in the recipe.

Green gram (Moong dal) scrub

Ingredients:

1 tablespoons green gram powder
1 tablespoons besan (chickpea flour)
1 teaspoon sandalwood powder

Method:

Combine all the ingredients. Mix it with a little milk cream (malai)/olive oil/almond oil and gently scrub over your facial skin avoiding the area under the eyes. Leave it on for 7 minutes and wash off.

Avoid using scrubs with harsh exfoliating beads that may cause microscopic scars on the skin. Instead, use chemical exfoliants such as AHA (glycolic acid) and salicylic acid that are more gentle on the skin and exfoliates more uniformly.

Don't use scrubs daily it makes your skin dry.
Home made face packs with tomato and lemon takes out excess oil and black heads. If your skin is carrying pimples or rashes then don't use lemon.

  15. To make a good facial treament you need following ingredients;
    Mashed Mango 2 tablespoons
    Rose Water 1 tablespoon
    Honey 1/2 tablespoon
    Oatmeal 2 tablespoon
    1 Egg
These ingredients need to be blended well because of mango, otherwise it will remain lumpy. Apply to the face skin and neck in circular motions. Leave the mask on for 30 minutes, or until dry. Remove by simply rinsing face and neck with warm water, followed by a cold water rinse.

    Natural Scrub For Oily Skin
    1 part sea salt
    1 part lemon juice
Mix into a paste and gently scrub face for 1 to 2 minutes. Rinse off. Interestingly, you would think this would be very drying to your skin, but I've found it actually leaves your skin feeling clean, refreshed, and soft. Use once a week to remove dead skin cells.

Don't over wash your face! It will cause your skin to produce even more oil. Apply a face cream while your skin is still a bit wet after you wash it. Don't use soaps with "fragrances" in them. Try a natural soap like Dr. Bronner's castile soap. Most soaps will strip your face of all the natural oils and dry them out more. You just want to clean off the dirt which water can do alone.

The ache of acne (pimples)

Acne is often the bane of a pretty face. It is painful more emotionally than physically, for the scar that it leaves behind can last for a lifetime, adding to one’s miserable look & feeling. No doubt many expensive skin care clinics have mushroomed in ever nook & corner, offering to clear all the scars & blemishes on the face, but they are very expensive & charge exorbitant price for each sitting; not everyone can afford them. Home remedies for common cold

Common cold is a very common malady which affects people during monsoons. (Also see the post Beauty and body care in monsoon for a monsoon beauty regimen.) It can be caused by any one of more than 200 viruses. Normally it is confined to the nose and throat although the virus can infect the larynx and lungs. It is said that there is no particular cure for colds, they are naturally relieved within a week. Treatment is just an attempt to relieve its symptoms such as headache, stuffy nose, sore-throat and congestion. Paracetamol tablets are generally taken to get relief from these symptoms.

Beating stress – some tips

It is very difficult to come across a happy, contented face in a crowd these days. Stress has become a way of life with people these days. Sure, we all need to be a little tense once in a blue moon. After all it acts as a positive force and helps us get things done. But when tension becomes a habit with us and we are unable to cope up with it, we say we are undergoing stress. Some people are simply born more tense than others. Children of over-anxious parents generally grow up to be more anxious than the others.

For a good night's sleep

Everyone of us, at one time or the other has been pestered by sleep problems. Sleeplessness could be transient and short-term or chronic. When it becomes a chronic problem it takes the form of insomnia and requires special attention. The first noticeable signs of poor sleeping habits are dark circles under the eyes pale skin, hair loss. Getting enough sleep is a must. Without proper sleep, your mind does not work as clearly and efficiently. You feel drained physically and mentally. Exactly how much you need to sleep depends on your own individual internal system. While some can do with 4-5 hours; most of us need 7 to 9 hours of sleep. But instead of reaching for a pill or a glass of wine, it’s wise to try out these time-honoured remedies and lifestyle changes.

Natural remedies for dark circles around your eyes

Dark circles around your eyes. How unsightly they look and even your best dress and layers of make-up sometimes does not quite succeed in concealing them! Blame it on your genes or your lifestyle, but, you cannot deny the fact that these are a blot on your beauty . And they become more prominent as you age. Let’s just debunk some of the myths as well as unearth some of the facts about the causes of these ‘ panda eyes ’.   Dark circles under eyes usually are temporary and not a medical concern. You may be surprised to learn that fatigue usually isn't the cause of dark circles. Instead, the most common cause is nasal congestion. When your nose is congested, veins that usually drain from your eyes into your nose become widened (dilated) and darker.
