Make-up tips for a dark complexion

For those beautiful maidens with a dusky complexion here are some makeup tips.

makeup dark complexion

* Before applying make-up, rub a piece of ice gently on your face. Pat dry with a soft towel. Use a concealer cleverly to camouflage blemishes and scars if any.

* Use a small quantity of a dark colored liquid foundation cream (see to it that the foundation cream is not too lighter than your skin color.) If it is too thick, add a few drops of plain water and then spread it gently over your face and neck.

* Check carefully to see that the foundation cream has blended on your skin, without leaving patches.

* Touch your cheeks, chin and forehead with a small quantity of blush: powder blush for an oily skin and cream blush for the dry skin. This should be used very carefully, or else it can change the skin tone to crimson. Select any dark shade; never use light pink.

* Use dark-colored compact for your face with a very light hand. Avoid applying too much powder, specially around the eyes. Always dust off the excess powder with a clean dry sponge.

* Eyes are probably the best assets of a dark skin. Clear white eyes with dark black irises look vivid and beautiful against a dusky skin. Accentuate them with proper make-up.

* Do not forget to shape your eyebrows regularly as straggling, thick eyebrows look awful on a dark skin. Shape your eyebrows with light feathery strokes to avoid harsh lines over the eyes.

* Use dark eye-liner to paint your eyes. You can even paint your eyes with soft eyebrow or kohl pencil. For evenings, select bronze or sea-green eye shadow. Avoid very light colors, though. Use roll-on mascara to give your eyes a dreamy look.

* Select dark shades of lipstick and nail polish. There are many colors in red, maroon and chocolate shades which will suit your complexion. Light, pink or mauve should be avoided.

Excited for this! Also, just wanted to say how much I've been enjoying your blog lately. I read a lot of awesome beauty blogs but sometimes it's easy to get into a rut or just posting press release style info without putting a personal take on it. And you do such a great job of making your posts YOURS! Love it. Thanks:)

When you are in a hurry apply just one coat of mascara only to the top lashes. This is quick and will make your lashes look natural.

Many blackwomen feel uncomfortable without their make up and wish they had the natural beauty and self confidence to look good as soon as they wake up, or at the gym or beach.

    # Go as organic as possible with your make-up – I know it can be pricey, but at least choose mineral over non-. Mineral make-up is usually rich in vitamins A, C, &E which are great for your skin, and is usually longer-lasting than most commercial make-up. Remember that your skin is porous; obviously, everyone talks about pores, but most people don’t realize that that means that it’s absorbing at least a percentage of everything you put on it, which includes your make-up &the chemicals in it.

Step 1 Wash your hands before handling your face. Dirt and oils on your hands will only aggravate the blemish.

Step 2 Choose a concealer appropriate to the color and type of blemish you wish to hide. Concealer is a creamier foundation makeup with added pigments intended for specific parts of your face.

Step 3 Pick a yellow-tinted concealer to hide red blemishes; choose a concealer a little lighter than your blemish for hiding darker marks.

Step 4 Choose a masking cosmetic (which is thicker than concealer and has added pigment) to hide more prominent blemishes, such as small scars left from pimples or skin irregularities.

Step 5 Apply the concealer or masking cosmetic over the blemish using your finger, an eye shadow brush or sponge.

Step 6 Blend the edges with the surrounding skin, using a circular motion.

Step 7 Set the masking cosmetic with a special setting powder, then apply oil-free foundation and powder on top.

Our faces don't lie. You can determine the state of a woman's health simply by looking at her skin, hair, and nails. Try as we might, no amount or makeup will work to change those suitcases under our eyes or the alligator skin on our hands.
