Fungal infections may affect your feet

In monsoons, our skin is often at the receiving end, especially our feet. With our kind of streets, wading through knee-deep water and accidentally stepping into an open drain is quite possible. Wet footwear is the worst. Fungal infections caused by using covered footwear through the day lead to irritating itches and subsequently, the scaling of the toes and the spaces between them. The crinkled skin and brittle toenails can cause a disease called ‘Athlete’s foot’ which if neglected, can be chronic.

Therefore maintain scrupulous hygiene. Wash your feet with a medicated, preferably an anti-fungal soap as soon as you reach home, pat-dry with a soft towel and ensure that you dry your feet completely and also the space between the toes, which are vulnerable to fungal infection. Do not use covered footwear. Avoid wearing socks. If you still end up with cracked and wet spaces between your toes, then fungicidal ointments and lotions are the best and most efficient method of treatment as the alcohol has a drying effect on the skin. Try out these home-remedies also.

Home remedies for fungal infections on the feet1. Apply a paste of henna (mehendi) leaves in the affected crevices between the toes and leave it until the pack gets dry and cracks. Do this everyday until the infection is wiped out.
2. A paste of turmeric, which is well known for its antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral properties can be applied effectively around the toes to get rid of fungal infections.

Washing your feet every day. Drying your feet completely, especially between your toes. Wearing sandals or shower shoes when walking around in locker rooms, public pools, and public showers.
Wearing clean socks. If they get wet or damp, be sure to change them as soon as you can. Using a medicated powder on your feet to help reduce perspiration.

"To prevent fungal infections, wait until feet have absorbed the lotion before putting on socks and shoes."
I've been known to slather on oils, creams, balms, gels and whatnot on my feet and calves before putting on a pair of men's socks and going to sleep and I've never had a fungus infection.

Fungal "infections" come from within. If you have ringworm, prone to yeast infections, or scalp issues, changing your diet will make a huge difference.

Garlic, teatree oil or apple cider vinegar may help. You can slice open a garlic and rub it on, same with the tea tree oil (watch for any allergic reaction), or you can use the cider vinegar to soak your feet in.

I have bad feet too! What has worked best for me is to keep them clean and dry. I wash them daily and change socks at least 3 times a day. Allowing them to breathe is important too. Whenever you're just hanging around the house, go bare foot.

Natural remedies for dark circles around your eyes

Blame it on your genes or your lifestyle, but, you cannot deny the fact that these are a blot on your beauty . And they become more prominent as you age. Let’s just debunk some of the myths as well as unearth some of the facts about the causes of these ‘ panda eyes ’.   Dark circles under eyes usually are temporary and not a medical concern. Home remedies for sleeplessness

The day dawns beautifully for those who have had a night of good sleep. But the same day drags on for those who have spent a disturbing, sleepless night. Sleep is a biological necessity even as eating and drinking are. Sufficient sleep renders a person normally sociable, lively and high-spirited. It’s a nature’s way of rejuvenating the person for the next day. Realize all this, and make sleep a physiological habit. The consequences of long time sleep deprivation can be very grave. Lack of sleep takes its toll on the skin and hair. It causes acne-breakouts and makes one look aged and haggard beyond years. Experts opine that during sleep as our metabolic rate falls, blood goes to those areas which need the most repairing. This also steps up the production of collagen and keratin, which aid the regeneration of skin cells and help resist premature ageing. So for a younger looking and a problem free skin you need to have a good quality of sleep every night.
