5 Quick Steps To A Slimmer and More Graceful You

Very few women have perfect figures, yet every woman dreams of possessing one. It is difficult to alter one's body-frame but there are a few tricks which can be used by almost every woman to create the illusion of instant slimness.

graceful, slim woman

These tricks revolve around learning to use one's body gracefully, to create the effect of a more perfect figure.

Correct Posture
Fundamental to instant slimness is a correct posture. Stand up and pull in your stomach muscles tightly and lift up the ribcage - instantly your waist is smaller by an inch or two.

Thrust your chin forward and slightly upward and pull down the shoulders. Practise this posture, but try not to be too stiff.

Standing position
The second is the standing position or stance. Check this one out in front of the mirror and you will be delighted by what you see.

Stand before the mirror, with one foot pointing straight ahead and the other foot placed at a 450 angle just behind the front foot. Keep the knees slightly flexed and the weight distributed equally on both feet.

This foot position is called as the "single-leg line." This gives a more flattering line to the legs and helps camouflage the less-than-perfect leg contours.

Walking
This is one of the most important body movements to make you appear graceful. A walk should be easy and graceful and the length of your stride should be in proportion to your figure type.

While walking, the feet should move parallel to each other without toeing-in or toeing-out. The shoulders should be relaxed, the arms swinging easily. The palm of the hand should face the side of your body to create the best effect.

Arm grace
When standing or walking, hold the elbows down and slightly out from the body so that the waist outline becomes distinct. The arms, in this position, appear more graceful, and the figure, slimmer.

While standing, the arms may be gracefully folded or clasped behind you. If the arms are hanging at the sides, always keep them behind the side seamline of your dress. This does not increase the width of the figure.

Hand grace
Hands can easily spoil the graceful illusion if you are not careful with them. When you have nothing to do with your hands, let them do nothing.

While sitting on an arm chair on sofa, let one hand rest easily in a chair arm; let the other rest in your lap, palm up, fingers slightly curled.

Avoid resting both elbows on the chair arms; this adds to body width and is not graceful.

The hand appears more graceful in profile. Learn to keep your hands at a slight angle with the body always.

Try and practise these five basic postures and positions and hey presto! You will have achieved instant slimness!

First motivation begins in your mind--think in terms of how you want to look, get that down in your mind, and keep the mental image. That helps beyond words.
I would be persistent, and look at exercise as a way to boost metabolism and build muscle. It is important to not worry too much over the scales, the tape measure and how your clothes feel over time is a better measure. Consider that gaining one pound of muscle will show as a 3# weight gain because of supporting fluid.
It is important to watch the amount of calories as well; but you are probably already doing that--
finally, work up to things, don't completely exhaust yourself. Work until feeling tired, then just a tiny bit more, adding time as you go.

Running is your best bet. You gain some muscle after a while but you're burning fat, so if you have fat thighs they'll slim down. It takes some work to actually gain so much muscle you're bulky.
I personally don't like dieting, I think it can do more harm than good. Just eat when you're hungry, stop when you're full, don't snack, but eat your basic three meals every day.

You need to do cardiovascular exercise to burn fat. Some activities burn more fat than others.

notice how people how aren't graceful move fast?
yes. being graceful involves pace and time. take your
movement's slow. flow your hands. be calm and relaxed.
even if its just picking up a fork, do it slowly and flowy.
    it works.

  6. Well, the key is to probably talk in a softer, nicer voice. I believe
it could make you aware of non-lady-like things you've been doing! Keep in mind that Alice Cullen is a made up, unrealistic, astonishingly beautiful, 80 year-old, forever 20 year-old, 4"10 short, 00 pants size, skinny, unusually pale and graceful vampire woman. She is not someone to envy, because it only wastes time.

  7. Are you willing to try anything or actually willing to do anything and stick with it? The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume- 3500 cal per pound. You need to find an exercise regime that you enjoy and stick with it and you need to eat a sensible, healthy diet that is low in calories, high in fiber and contains enough protein to sustain muscle growth

Eating right is a start but you must keep up with it, you cant do it for a month and go back to you're old habits, You basically must teach yourself how to eat again and try different foods and vegetables in different combinations so that you dont get bored. Try not to buy prepared or canned food and read the labels. Once you have the eating part down start with walking, then jogging. The hard part is getting up to do it, and once you start you should be ok. try just 3 times a week at first so that you dont over work yourself out. you dont need to waste money at all. running at the park will do more for you than paying jenny craig to cook for you. good luck and keep the end result in mind every time you dont have the will power to work out.

If you want to burn fat, you're going to have to eat a proper diet. It doesn't matter how much exercise you do, you can always eat more calories than you can burn. Check out these fitness facts.
If you consume fewer calories than you burn, you have to lose fat eventually. There are no exceptions to this fact. There are only two nonsurgical things we can do to sculpt a better body and they are (1) lose fat and (2) build muscle. This fact assumes muscular atrophy and fat gain will not sculpt a better body. A pound of fat will yield about 3500 calories (Kcal) of energy. An average person must run or walk about 5 miles (8 km) every day to burn one pound of fat per week assuming their diet allows for fat consumption. An average person must run or walk about 350 miles (563 km) to burn 10 pounds and their diet must allow it. If they walk 350 miles (13.4 marathons) at 3mph it will take them 117 hours or about three full 40 hour work weeks to burn 10 pounds of fat. If an average person consumes 500 calories per day less than they burn, they will lose about a pound a week with no extra time or physical effort required.•Running does not burn any more fat than walking as long as the distance remains the same.It does not matter if a person runs or walks a given distance…they will burn the same number of calories. Calories are energy and energy expenditure is not time dependent. How fast a person runs has nothing to do with how many calories they burn. Only the distance determines the calories burned. There is no exercise which will remove fat from a particular place on the body. Your body (genetics) determines where you lose fat, not you nor your diet nor your exercise.
It doesn’t matter how hard or how long you exercise, you will not lose any fat if you eat too much. When it comes to burning fat, diet always trumps exercise. There are no supplements which will make your body burn fat. Only you can do that with diet control.

work on your posture.. don't slouch when you walk or sit down and at home (i know it sound weird) but try to walk around while balancing a book on your head, if you like to wear heals practice with them, it will help your balance and will help you walk straight and tall with nice posture... grace is all about the way you carry your self, so have good posture, self esteem and be yourself !

Dark colors, e.g. black, make you look slimmer, small pattern help do that too, vertical stripes slenderize you, excellent are black suits, pants or skirts have white vertical pinstripes or chalk stripes not Bengal or awning stripes, avoid light colors and big patterns, e,g. plaids that make you seem heavier. Just wear pants or long skirts hide knees if you think they too big, is difficult reduce size of knees, running, jogging, bicycling, lunges, squats, etc. help reduce entire legs, spot reducing not work.

heir is a few things....study some basic ballet....the main compnent of that is grace and being able to imitate what you see....this will give you a base. Watch how ballet dancers move their hands and arms and bodies. Watch models.....see how they move. Notice everything they do is soft...their hands are soft. You kind of have to think dainty thoughts ...almost like your made of air or your walking on egg shells. Nothing is sudden or jerky. Good posture helps...dont quit the yoga this will help wiht your dancing and grace. Learning how to move like a certain refrence or person is all about imitation...its how people in the years before did it and its how people will do it in a hundred years. An example would be a cat....a cat never moves for no reason....when they move it always has a purpose. it always has a flow to it...nothing seems out of place. DOes that make sense?

  14. for some reason with age we seem to grow more graceful and comfotable with ourselves. It is really hard to tell someone one how to be graceful . it's almost like trying to tell someone how to be funny, or beautiful. it comes with age.

  15. Heredity (our genes) plays a large part in our inherent sense of balance and coordination. Some people find improvement by enrolling in dancing classes --- where they also teach poise and graceful movements.

well for one it is a big thing to do with genes, the genetic codeing of your body. It is also just a basic skill. Watch how your feet move when you walk and practice balancing on one foot etc. gracefulness is based a lot on balance and awareness.

  17. Posture is always a good way to start. It's passive and doesn't require a lot of energy. Also, develop good listening skills, they can fall into line with having low energy. Be careful however and try to avoid developing a reputation as someone too needy or a doormat.
Be engaging, ask good questions and try to get to know the people around you. In short, try to find your definition of grace. If you can't be the 'life of the party; then by all means try to be it's heart. Self-esteem usually takes a little while.
When i was 21 I was a tired needy fellow, but in time i found my own stride, you'll find yours too.

The best way to improve your posture and grace is just simple practicing a simple jump in front of a mirror the you can see all of your flaws and correct them! this is what my synchronized skating team did before our competition and we made virtually no mistakes! Also just walk around the house being as graceful as you can! (it helps) And finally don't make any sudden movements that way your arms are very graceful and gets the point through! (does not count for jumps)

Practice this off-ice first, to relatively slow music to pace yourself and use a mirror:
1-Start by placing your arms in Second Position.
2-On the count of "One", bring the arms in, and curved in front of you.
3-On the count of "Two", maintaing the same positioning, bring the arms overhead. Keep your shoulders down. Let your head follow your arms, i.e. look upward.
4-On the count of ""Three", open the arms slowly, flick your wrists and down; bring your head down at the same time.
5-On the count of "Four", your arms should be back to Second Position, palms down.
    6-Repeat

Remember: it's all about leading softly with your wrists, and fluidity with your arms. Too many skaters just skate with their feet.
Then try it on-ice, while forward stroking.
Also, try to understand and feel what your (chosen) music is saying, and don't be afraid to "get into the music". For inspiration, check out the Olympics-observe how the skaters reach the audience by the way they interpret their music. Years ago there were loads of Professional skating competitions on tv, and I'd watch them for that reason. Unfortunately they aren't held anymore.
I sometimes use "Magic of Style" DVD's by Margret Frei. She's wonderful with simply arm movements while stroking. There may be a sample run on UTube.

What you are talking about is non verbal communication. Yes, that is getting to be a lost art. One should walk with as little noise as possible. This goes back to hunting. A hunter walks quiet in order not to scare the animals and this is what you are doing, not scaring. lol The same applies for the tone of voice, not too loud to scare but not to soft as to display weakness. Sitting, one should not allow the back to touch the chair, hold up the shoulders and head. Standing for women, both feet are together, angled, one foot is slightly in front of the other angled somewhat more. Hands, one should hold the hands together for the most part but with certain details the hands will be used to provide additional gestures returning each time back to a holding position. I think the object is make everything so smooth that one does not notice instead of notice. People notice bad not good, only later will it occur to them.
