Sleep deprivation-Consequences

A good night’s sleep will leave us fresh and ready to face the world. Sleep plays an important role in conserving the energy levels and refreshing our mental and emotional equilibrium. Disturbances in the timing of sleep could be due to our lifestyles, stress or the nature of work which keeps us so busy that we have no time for adequate sleep. Or it could be due to some sleeping disorders which need medical attention.

Sleep deprivation could have serious repercussions on our health. Studies from National sleep Foundation’s poll substantiate this.
* Stress makes one to lose sleep and lack of sleep results in stress and thus it can be a vicious circle. Stress, depression and lack of sleep weakens the immune system making one vulnerable to a multitude of diseases, like common cold, diabetes, asthma, fevers etc.
* A person’s attention span decreases and makes him/her drowsy and distractible. Anger, irritability and crankiness will follow. On further deprivation, there may be symptoms of hallucinations, illusions and confused behavior.
* Other effects could be poor memory and difficulty in focusing and concentrating on the task in hand, impaired ability and increased errors at work.

A good night’s sleep is a must for good health. So, try and analyze the reasons for your sleeplessness, and if you have any concerns see your doctor to rule out any sleep disorder or disease. Do check out the posts For a good night’s sleep and Water therapy for sleeplessness for tips on getting a good quality, sufficient sleep.

The only way to stop this, is to fix the source of your stress.

If its your job, maybe try to cut back the work load (or just remember: it's only a job!)

There are some good meditation's out there on CD, which I find really soothing....

    Just breathe and relax...

You might also find a mantra relaxing. Its just something you say over and over to yourself, when you find your stressed, or becoming a bit anxious.
    You might like to try:
    " I am cool"
" The wind floats over me"
" Lift me up" (that's my one)

Well you're saying it's stress, but is any of it anxiety? I know that a lot of my "stress" is anxiety about things like you mentioned, tests, etc. and there are now a lot of anti-anxiety medications you can get so that it won't cause the physical symptoms to exist or exist as badly as they are now. There are also many other things you can do to help you learn to deal with stress/anxiety so that it won't effect you as badly such as yoga, deep breathing, and anti-anxiety exercises. If you don't take care of this problem you will likely end up with stomach ulcers from the stress so please talk to your doctor.

A hot bath can work wonders to relieve stress and can also set the stage for a good night’s sleep. Fill a tub with scented bubble bath, oils, or salts. Bring a good book to read. If you’re in a more romantic mood, light some candles, too.

Protect yourself from the sun. Don’t smoke. Breathe. Live with joy and find healthy ways to manage stress. Find a doctor you trust and maintain your overall health. Anything else you do on top of those choices, from spending on cosmetics and skin care products to choosing dermatological procedures, is only going to be effective if you’ve given yourself a great foundation for lifelong beauty.

If you are stressed there is one thing that is more important than anything else, and that is to get a good nights sleep.

A good nights sleep is the best reward your body can have, and whilst still we don't know an awful lot about being asleep, we know this is where the body recharges and re-energises itself from the stresses and strains of the previous day, ready for the next day.

When you don't get enough sleep therefore you can feel tired, irritable and unproductive the following day.
Therefore be sure to give yourself enough time to get some good quality sleep each night, and if you need to have a nice soothing bath before bed to relax you and maybe listen to some nice gentle music too before falling off asleep.

sleep deprivation will affect you giving you dark circles under your eyes. If you've lost just two hours a night for two weeks, you are sleep deprived, your body has lost 28 hours - essentially a day+. You need to get the sleep your body needs. The things that happen when you deprive yourself of sleep are general weakness, lack of clear thought, diminished mental capacity, dehydration, muscle pain, poor coordination, eye strain and many other conditions. You become vulnerable to accidents, your physical stability will be undermined, and you could easily make stupid mistakes - walking into traffic, missing steps on stairs, cutting your fingers when chopping food. You are operating at diminished capacity. Not to mention how it affects your physical appearance. Two weeks minimum of sustained regular sleep will improve things. You need at least six to eight weeks to undo the damage. Here's a thought for you to consider - if you are responsible for any care of patients at the hospital where you volunteer you are putting them at risk. You are at risk driving sleep deprived - it is a major cause of vehicular accidents. If you get a chance with some time off, rent and watch the movie Insomnia, with Al Pacino - it's a good movie, but what it is very good at is showing how altered and ill-looking you can become with even short term sleep deprivation.

Pore shrinking mask recipes from home

A face with large open pores when seen from close quarters doesn’t look so good. While it’s quite common for oily skins to have a tendency towards open pores, an attack of pimples also leaves ugly scars and open pores behind.  Even though the scars may fade away after some time, open pores appear to be more obstinate and hardly show any signs of shrinking.  Age also takes its toll by giving an uneven/pigmented tone to the skin and making the open pores more prominent. Heredity could also be a contributing factor in determining your pore size. It’s not easy to get rid of these pores or shrink them completely or permanently using serums, lotions or face packs. Even resorting to drastic chemical/surgical procedures at the dermatologist’s isn’t quite capable of giving satisfactory results.  Nevertheless, you can try and minimize their appearance at least temporarily with clever makeup and a few natural skin care masks such as these: * Cleanse your face with a mild ...
