Avoiding the winter soap itch : Skin care tip

I  use a body wash instead of soap during winter. This winter, I used Dove NutriumMoisture Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash & Deep Moisture Body wash (am still using it) and my skin feels wonderful after I step out of my bath - there isn't the slightest hint of dryness or stretchiness. But if you would rather use a soap instead of a moisturizing body wash or a shower gel, use it sparingly; don't just scrub it all over your body to work up a foamy lather as it could make your skin dry, flaky and itchy. It's great if you are using a mild soap that is specially formulated for winter skin but even then 'Less is more' holds true here, more so, if you have an extremely dry skin. Using a good moisturizer alone won't help. Read this wonderful tip from Dr Schultz on how to avoid winter soap itch.
While we associate using soap with cleanliness, in colder, drier weather (i.e., during the winter), using soap too often can cause over-drying of your skin and uncomfortable itchiness.

So how often should you use soap?

Unwanted odors occur from bacterial growth in closed-in, moist areas of the body (e.g., under your arms, around your private parts). In these areas, soap should be used daily to remove bacteria and help alleviate odors.

On the other hand, your arms, legs, chest and back are not areas that promote the growth of odor-causing bacteria and only emit sweat, which is merely a mixture of salt and water and is conveniently washed away by just water.

So limiting daily lathering in the shower to just the essential odor-causing areas of the body and leaving water and occasional soaping to the rest can help you to avoid uncomfortable dryness and itchiness that can last all season long.

other than stay out of sun...

Donot wear makeup. Not only does it make many look unattractive, but it also is very damaging to the skin in the long term. Its not the makeup itself, but some of the application techniques, and the harsher cleansers used to clean up afterward. Foundations that clog pores, powerders that dry your skin. Mascara that is impossible to get off, (think all that rubbing around eyes doesn't make wrinkles worse?)

As far as products... stick to things found in nature. Less chemicals, less animal byproducts. There are many organic skincare products out there as well.

  4. Oh my gosh I love my sugar scrub. It gets rid of dry skin and the sugar dissolves and brings moisture to the skin. I use it about 2-3times a week. it last a few days. I also use it before shaving and it makes it so my legs have the moisture to handle the razor. it is like having really fresh young skin.

Pore shrinking mask recipes from home

A face with large open pores when seen from close quarters doesn’t look so good. While it’s quite common for oily skins to have a tendency towards open pores, an attack of pimples also leaves ugly scars and open pores behind.  Even though the scars may fade away after some time, open pores appear to be more obstinate and hardly show any signs of shrinking.  Age also takes its toll by giving an uneven/pigmented tone to the skin and making the open pores more prominent. Heredity could also be a contributing factor in determining your pore size. It’s not easy to get rid of these pores or shrink them completely or permanently using serums, lotions or face packs. Even resorting to drastic chemical/surgical procedures at the dermatologist’s isn’t quite capable of giving satisfactory results.  Nevertheless, you can try and minimize their appearance at least temporarily with clever makeup and a few natural skin care masks such as these: * Cleanse your face with a mild ...
