DIY face masks for winter

Winter ushers in beauty ills such as peeling, dry patches, itching, roughness and chapped skin. Here are some ways of tackling it. You could also pamper your skin with some of these DIY nourishing face masks made from ingredients in your larder:
For oily skin:
Make a fine paste of ½ tsp cucumber/orange pulp, 1 tsp each of honey and almond powder, and 1 tbsp of curd. Apply on face, keep it on for 20-25 minutes and rinse off with water.
For dry skin:
Make a fine paste of banana pulp and 1 tsp each of honey and milk. It hydrates the skin.
For sensitive skin:
Take 1 tbsp papaya and mix 1 tsp each of honey and milk. This soothes the skin.
For all skin types:
Mix 1 tsp amla paste, 10-12 pure saffron strands and 1 tsp almond paste. Apply on face, keep on for half-an-hour, and wash off.
Apply almond oil or any oil rich in vitamin E. It keeps the skin supple and smooth.

I’m outside about 7 hours a day with the horses, and have dry skin to begin with. *sigh* This might sound odd, but I use Olive oil like crazy in the winter. Leave it on for ten minutes or so, then wash off with a gentle cleanser, like Cetaphil. Works like a charm wink

Since it’s winter, my skin has been really dry, but a couple days ago, I tried the Egg Yolk & Honey mask and after i toned and moisturized, my skin was smooth and soft and it has been a week and my skin hasnt been peeling!
What you do is you separate the egg, if your face is dry, use the yolk, if your face is oily, use the white. So i used the yolk, and you add about 1 tsp. of honey (or 1 tsp. of lemon juice if your face is oily) and leave it on for 15-20 minutes and wash it off! It works WONDERS!!!

If you have an oily skin, then make a pack outta sandalwood paste and little milk and apply it on face for 10 mins. If you have a dry skin, never use sandalwood paste cause it makes the skin more dry, instead u can make a paste of honey and cream and apply on your face for 15 mins. It does wonder to your skin!!!

Pore shrinking mask recipes from home

A face with large open pores when seen from close quarters doesn’t look so good. While it’s quite common for oily skins to have a tendency towards open pores, an attack of pimples also leaves ugly scars and open pores behind.  Even though the scars may fade away after some time, open pores appear to be more obstinate and hardly show any signs of shrinking.  Age also takes its toll by giving an uneven/pigmented tone to the skin and making the open pores more prominent. Heredity could also be a contributing factor in determining your pore size. It’s not easy to get rid of these pores or shrink them completely or permanently using serums, lotions or face packs.
