Homemade Body Scrubs

Check out some of these amazing scrubs to whisk off those dead cells from your skin.

COFFEE BODY SCRUB

Ingredients:coffee beans

2 cups of coarsely ground coffee
1/2 cup raw sugar or sea salt
2-3 Tbsp massage oil

Method:

Mix all ingredients together. Take a hot shower to moisten your skin and open your pores. Using wide, circular motions, rub the coffee exfoliant onto your skin with strong, even pressure. Shower off, pat skin dry, and apply a thin layer of your favorite body lotion.

GLYCERIN AND HONEY SUGAR SCRUB

Ingredients:
1 cup fine sugar
3 tsp liquid glycerin
1 tsp pure honey
3-5 drops of your favorite essential oil
Optional: Pinch of lavender blossoms, chamomile, or dried herbs of your choice, (finely chopped)

Method:

Mix ingredients well and store in an airtight container. Add more liquid ingredients if you prefer a thinner end-product. Stir thoroughly before use. This keeps very well, and in fact, the honey acts as preservative. Use small amounts when scrubbing the nose, being careful not to irritate or get it in the eyes. Scrub elbows, hands, knees, and feet. Rinse in warm water, pat dry, and apply a moisturizer afterward.

This is very new to me - but one I am sure I will try out. No doubt there will be a lot of swilling to do - to rid the smell. How good is this when you think about it - if you do not wish to bathe in it - you can always drink it.

Making an exfoliating body scrub is easy and takes very little time – but has fantastic results. Removing the dead skin cells from your body leaves it glowing; and many of the ingredients in the scrubs outlined below will leave your skin feeling soft and supple. These scrubs can be shared with family and friends in the form of a small gift – by packaging the salts in a bottle with a ribbon, for example.

I use: 1/4 cup graapeseed oil. It has naturally occuring vitamin E and other great stuff for skin. 1/4 cup of regular white cane sugar.
As much juice as I can squeeze from a small leaf from a real aloe vera plant that grows on our window sill. Mix in a cereal sized bowl and rub it into your skin. For a whole body scrub, get some help with your back from a buddy ;-).
Shower (no soap) to rinse and blot dry with a fluffy towel. The grape seed oil is actually good for your skin and very light, with almost no smell, and it will not clog pores, so you can leave the oil on your skin that remains. It feels GREAT!

  6. Oh yeah! I am excited to see that you will be addressing the natural beauty route. I’ve been making my own shampoo, facial moisturizer and exfolant for the last few years and my own home cleaning products for several years. However, I would be very interested in homemade skin care for acne prone skin as our boys are now at that age.
