The people of the ancient civilizations are known to have the best beauty secrets in the world. Many of today’s beauty companies use some of these secrets to create modern versions and in my case, my grandmother still talks about how things were done when she was my age. Here are some ancient beauty remedies that I’ve found to be really interesting and useful.

Cleopatra, renowned for her beauty is said to have bathed in milk to get smooth, younger and softer skin.
Olive oil is a favorite of several cultures including the Romans and Egyptians. It’s known to give your skin a glow, act as an anti-aging agent and to keep your hair shiny.

Milk was a favorite bathing ingredient of Cleopatra’s because it kept her skin smooth.

Almond oil helps the hair grow. Almonds mixed with egg whites can help to reduce brown spots.

Coconut that is grated and applied to the face like a mask is a well-known beauty remedy in India.

Henna was used to dye hair and give it a pretty reddish tint. It also makes the hair shiny and acts like a UV protector.

Rosemary was used to prevent hair loss in ancient Egypt.

Rice bran was used by the Japanese to prevent wrinkles and get rid of under eye circles.

Argan oil is from a fruit found in Morocco and contains vitamin E and fatty acids known to nourish the hair and skin.

Some of these remedies were used in several different cultures in different parts of the world, but all of them have stood the test of time and have been proven to work.
