The Wonders of Cream Bleach

“ I don’t want to use chemicals on my face” is a common refrain among women about bleaching. Most women still believe that bleaching is done only to achieve instant fairness, but few know about the other advantages of bleaching.

Bleaching helps maintain skin health by removing suntan and performs a 3-dimensional task.

First it camouflages facial hair to match skin colour.

Secondly it thoroughly cleanses the clogged pores of the skin by removing the dirt, making it breathe a lot easier.

Lastly it gives instant fairness to the skin, lightening the skin colour by a couple of shades, but more than that it nourishes the skin with the release of active oxygen into the skin. Beauticians across the world recognize oxygen therapy as the latest skin care technique.

Not only has the technique of bleaching changed over the years, but the quality of bleach too has undergone vast changes.

Modern day bleaching has proven to be a tried and tested method of attaining a glowing health skin and a clear, glowing complexion. Cream bleaches are so easy to use that women can safely use then at home.

Some tips on how to use the cream bleach safely & effectively:

* Always test for sensitivity on a small area before applying.

* Follow the instructions on the leaflet of the product thoroughly.

* Never apply after a hot bath.

* Use the mixture within 30 minutes of preparation; otherwise the effectiveness will wear off.

* Do not apply on cuts or abrasions, moles, skin disorders or make-up, as they may cause a burning sensation or irritation.

* Do not use metal dishes or spoons for preparing the mixture, as they can cause chemical reactions in the ingredients.

* Use for 15 minutes, if fair complexioned and 25-30 minutes, if dark complexioned.

* Let there be a gap of at least 15 days for the next application of bleach.

* Keep containers tightly closed after usage.

* Always store the kit in a cool, dry and dark place away from excessive heat.

The available cream bleaches in the market are Fem Fairness Bleach, Fem Perfumed Blue Bleach, Jolen, Jolen Blue, Olivia and Ayur.

  6. Ice cubes, cold milk are all very good. Don't use a very abrasive scrub, though. Your skin is usually very sensitive after bleaching. Will write a post about this soon. Thanks for visiting again. Cheers.

hello aparna, I recently used bleach on my face and now i have tiny red bumps everywhere i applied teh bleach. I don't know what went wrong but how do i fix this?

    ReplyDelete
  9. hi Anonymous, by any chance did you use an inferior brand of cream bleach? If not, then check the expiry date. As for the red bumps that have appeared after you bleached your face, apply a ice cube wrapped in a kerchief all your face for a cooling effect and see a dermatologist at the earliest.

    Hey there!!!
Ive got burn scars on my feet on the back of my ankles so can I use this cream bleach on there?
And can I also used it for my inner thighs, knucles, knees and elbows?
    Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  14. @Anonymous, comment no 12-- I can't point out the exact reason why your face turns dark after bleaching. If you have used a good quality bleach and followed all the instructions meticulously, might be your skin is allergic to the ingredients in bleach. Discontinue using bleach and consult a dermatologist.

    ReplyDelete
  15. @Anonymous, comment 13 -- If your scars are pretty old, it's okay to bleach. But to be on the safer side, better talk to your dermatologist. Bleaching your inner thighs, knuckles, knees and elbows is fine and shouldn't pose much of a problem.

Take 2 scoops of cream and add 2 pinches of activator powder mix well till no grains are left from the powder (do not use steel utensils). Apply for 15-20 minutes. After 15 mins check near your chin with a piece of cotton for your desired bleached effect. Then Wash your face well. Don't apply soap after that till next day.

  21. Hi Sinaz (anonymous comment #20): Thanks for your comment. Aren't the ingredients listed on the bottle? I checked Fem's official site and it's not mentioned there. BTW, I had used Fem bleach long time back, so I don't have it with me now. Also I'm no longer bleaching my face/arms these days as I feel that it harms the skin in the long run.

yeh true that, it does harm your skin in the long run. i reckon the best natural skin bleach is lime/lemon juice lol

hey there! found you article really interesting :) i have too much of unwanted hair.. i bleached my skin today using fem bleach.. washed my face after 15 minutes, but ma face hasnt got bleached at all! even a single hair hasnt changed its colour! there was absolutely no difference.. i mixed cream with activator as directed in d slip given in d pack.. i dint know that steel utensills shoudnt be used.. i used a steel utensil.. can be this be the culprit? and can i use fem bleach again tommorrow? and 1 more mistake i did was, i took fem bleach used for fair skin.. my complection is wheatish.. after i had applied the pack, it turned like an shaving cream.. i checked the manufacturing date and itz alright..i dint suffer from any kind of infections! as i have an important function on monday, i have to get ready by then!! plzz help!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. @Anonymous comment #23: Unfortunately you'll have to wait for atleast 15 days to reapply the bleach. Please go through the post How to apply cream bleach & Follow these dos and don't while bleaching your skin, I have mentioned everything there. Why don't you go for threading at a beauty salon to get rid of your facial hair, so that you can be fuzz-free before your important function. And next time be careful to follow the instructions properly while bleaching.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anonymous9:59 PM

oh! k k.. thanx a lot :) i dnt prefer threading as i get pimples after the process.. probably coz my skin is oily.. i will try to find someother alternative :) i wish i had gone through your article before itself :/ i'll definitely follow all your instructions next time :) thanx again :) tc :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Anonymous comment 28: Bleaching once in a while before some event is alright but don't make it a regular affair. What I mean is don't bleach your face every month or once in 15 days. Eventually it is supposed to cause skin-darkening. Read more about other side-effects here.
@Anonymous comment 29: Threading if done properly doesn't increase hair-growth. It's one of the safest method of hair-removal. So go for it. If it's so bothersome, get yourself a tweezer to pluck out stray hairs.

bleaching is very difficult to do an any hair on your body. If your hair is dark, I wouldn't recommend bleaching your hair because it would still be very visible. Try using a creme hair remover.

is it safe to bleach stomach area?

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Anonymous comment #37: I am assuming that you are a woman; it's reasonably safe to use bleach on stomach area if the skin is not inflamed or broken. However if you are pregnant please avoid the bleach on any area of your body. A better way to get rid of superfluous hair on your stomach is shaving Also don't worry, shaving does not make the hair grow thicker or darker. If you don't have too much hair in that area, plucking those hairs with a tweezer is also convenient. Or if you prefer use depilatory creams like Anne French, Veet, Fem etc. Again, avoid these if you are pregnant or confirm with your doctor if you can use them (depilatory creams).

HI...Aparna...My daughter is 12 years old since born to 6 years she was very fair but after that her colour is becoming dark day by day.Should I apply bleach on her face?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi Anonymous (comment #39): Please do not apply bleach at such a young age. Her skin is still very tender. And do not worry too much about her skin colour. A person with wheatish to dark complexions but with good facial features looks much better than a person with fair complexion.

  43. Has your cheek actually become red? If not, there's nothing to worry. If f you have developed red rashes then probably you are allergic to that bleach or you did not follow the instructions properly. For remedy, wrap a ice cube in a handkerchief and dab it on your face. For more info, read the posts How to apply cream bleach, Bleaching do's and don'ts also.

Hey aparna I applied vlcc insta glow bleach to my face and I washed it in 7-10 min but my skin turned into dark blue colour I don't know what to do im scarred, suggest me how can I fix it will it go slowly

    ReplyDelete
  45. @Anonymous comment #45: Did you check the expiry date? Did you follow all the instructions mentioned? Why don't you contact the customer care of the company and inform them. I suggest you visit a dermatologist at the earliest and unless and until he/she says that it's nothing serious, it's better to avoid self-treatment with home-remedies. Also take the sample of bleach along with you when you visit the doctor. In the meantime, you can dab ice-cubes wrapped in a clean hanky all over your battered face for relief. I hope you have read the posts How to apply cream bleach and Bleaching do's and don'ts. Also read the posts Quick remedy for blemishes and rashes and this post as well.

    1. Seeamatti, you shouldn't treat hyper-pigmentation with bleach. Please contact a dermatologist who might prescribe a suitable cream for your problem. Bleach is only for brightening your complexion on special occasions. Bleaching does not help with pigmentation. If you want to treat hyperpigmentation, the Ayurvedic way, then use Kumkumadi Tailam from Kottakal Ayra Vaidya Shala. Also read this post.

Which bleach should i use on knees...and at what intervals...my complexion is wheatish but my knees are dark

    ReplyDelete
  52. You can use any bleach from a reputed company. Personally only Ayur bleach did not work for me. Preferably the intervals between bleaches should be 15 days to a month. Instead of bleaching, why don't you scrub your knees with lemon slices? Long term bleaching may prove harmful; that's why try and use homemade beauty aids. If the darkening is significant and you feel too bothered by it, consult a dermatologist who might prescribe a suitable cream for you.

Or else do look out for a good quality foundation that might help camouflage the darkened knee skin.
