How to Groom Your Eyebrows to Perfection

A set of big, bushy eyebrow is a movie joke cliche. Don't let your eyebrows be the butt of someone else's humor - you can look more polished and put together if you take the time to groom your eyebrows.

Men, that goes for you, too! Grooming only needs to take a few minutes out of your day, but it does require precise technique to ensure you get your brows looking as good as they can.

Step One: Collect Your Tools

Brow tools need not break the bank; you simply need slanted-tip metal tweezers (Pros recommends Tweezerman Slant Tweezers), grooming scissors, an eyebrow brush, and a brow pencil or shadow to fill in any over-tweezed areas.

Step Two: Determine Your Natural Brow Shape

To figure out where your brows need to be tweezed, figure out your natural brow shape and thickness. To get the best results, you should let your brows grow out for a month. From there, Women's Health Magazine suggests placing your tweezers upside down so they run vertically next to the outer edge of your nose.

Where the top of the tweezers rest should be where your brows begin - about one inch above the inner corner of your eye. Next, level the tweezers so they run from the bottom of your nose to your eyebrow, aligning with the outside edge of your iris. This is where your brows should end.

Step Three: Trim the Hairs

If your brows are naturally bushy, consider trimming them down. Men, in particular, are prone to long, bushy eyebrows. To do so, use a brow brush to brush the hairs up toward your forehead, and then snip away any hair that peak above your natural browline.

You can also place a comb in the brow at a 45-degree angle and press it down toward the skin slightly. Use the scissors to trim away any hair that pushes through the comb.

Step Four: Tweeze with Caution

It's easy to over-pluck your eyebrows - just ask any teenager learning how to do it! To tweeze with caution, stand a foot away from the mirror and pluck the hairs, going row by row, from nose to temple. Pluck in the direction of hair growth to avoid ingrown hairs.

Resist the urge to use ice to numb the area - it will actually make the pain worse because the chill tightens the pores and causes your skin to constrict and hold onto the hair even more firmly. Soften your skin and the hair by plucking right after a shower or place a warm washcloth on the area for a minute or two.

No need to pay for pricey threading - you can groom your eyebrows at home.

Step Five: Fill in, if Needed

If you made a boo-boo and over-plucked in a spot, fill in the area with a brow pencil or shadow. Choose a shade close to your natural brow color and fill it in lightly.

Avoid using products not meant for brows, as it can make it look unnatural.

If you have unruly brows, you can finish up the grooming process by brushing on brow gel to keep those pesky hairs in place.

A good brow grooming process can do wonders for your face. Rather than dismissing it as a vain beauty process, take 10 minutes to help look your best with groomed brows.

Aloevera, the wonder herb

Of all the herbs available in the kitchen garden, aloe is perhaps the richest in healing properties and has been rightly named the “first-aid” plant. It has moisturizing and emollient properties and is used in cosmetic creams, sun-lotions, shaving creams and face packs. It can easily be cultivated as a house-plant in a sunny warm spot with good drainage. Cosmetologists mix aloe with several other herbs and draft fancy names for it. Then these “herbal” avatars are sold at exorbitant prices. Growing a plant and using fresh gel is much more effective than bottled gel, simply because it is alive and therefore is more potent. It is the only plant whose extract is applied directly from plant to face in its natural and purest form.
