The content from Beauty and Personal grooming blog is not intended to be used for medical diagnosis or treatment. The information provided here is intended for informational purpose only; it's not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice.

I’m not a doctor, registered dietitian, fitness expert, folk medicine / alternative medicine practitioner or a yoga guru.

The purpose of my blog is to document whatever I've read about health and fitness and share whatever experiences I've had with health, nutrition, fitness, home-remedies, ayurveda, yoga, pranayama, acupressure, skin-care, hair-care and life in general.

And as you might know, research in health, nutrition, beauty, fitness etc. continuously evolves, and what is deemed healthy today might not be so after a few months or years. So I do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, usefulness or timeliness of any information presented on this particular blog.

Since I'm a fan of home-remedies / folk remedies, I've shared whatever has worked for me or for those in my close circle of friends and relatives. However, when it comes to your health and fitness, do your own research.

Consider the information on this site a useful resource, but talk with your doctor if you’re thinking of changing treatments, altering your current treatment, or doing any other medical-related stuff.

Moreover, since I also share reviews of beauty and skin care products, I'd also like to mention that these are my experiences (or experiences of my guest writers) with these products.

Each person's skin / hair is different; so what works for me (or my guest writers) might not work for you and you may have a different experience with that particular product.

Same holds true for homemade DIY face masks, hair packs, homemade oils, ubtans, lepas etc. that I've shared on this blog.

Even homemade or herbal beauty aids are known to cause sensitivity in some persons. So test any substance on a small area of skin for any allergies, before applying.

The opinions expressed on this blog are either my own or that of my guest writers. Additionally, my thoughts and opinions may change from time to time.

I consider this a necessary consequence of having an open mind and as such any thoughts and opinions expressed in older posts may not be the same, nor even similar, to those I may hold today.

The ache of acne (pimples)

Pore shrinking mask recipes from home

A face with large open pores when seen from close quarters doesn’t look so good. While it’s quite common for oily skins to have a tendency towards open pores, an attack of pimples also leaves ugly scars and open pores behind.  Even though the scars may fade away after some time, open pores appear to be more obstinate and hardly show any signs of shrinking.  Age also takes its toll by giving an uneven/pigmented tone to the skin and making the open pores more prominent. Heredity could also be a contributing factor in determining your pore size. It’s not easy to get rid of these pores or shrink them completely or permanently using serums, lotions or face packs. Even resorting to drastic chemical/surgical procedures at the dermatologist’s isn’t quite capable of giving satisfactory results.  Nevertheless, you can try and minimize their appearance at least temporarily with clever makeup and a few natural skin care masks such as these: * Cleanse your face with a mild ...

Home remedies for sleeplessness

The day dawns beautifully for those who have had a night of good sleep. But the same day drags on for those who have spent a disturbing, sleepless night. Sleep is a biological necessity even as eating and drinking are. Sufficient sleep renders a person normally sociable, lively and high-spirited. It’s a nature’s way of rejuvenating the person for the next day. Realize all this, and make sleep a physiological habit. The consequences of long time sleep deprivation can be very grave. Lack of sleep takes its toll on the skin and hair. It causes acne-breakouts and makes one look aged and haggard beyond years. Experts opine that during sleep as our metabolic rate falls, blood goes to those areas which need the most repairing. This also steps up the production of collagen and keratin, which aid the regeneration of skin cells and help resist premature ageing. So for a younger looking and a problem free skin you need to have a good quality of sleep every night.

Natural remedies for dark circles around your eyes

Dark circles around your eyes. How unsightly they look and even your best dress and layers of make-up sometimes does not quite succeed in concealing them! Blame it on your genes or your lifestyle, but, you cannot deny the fact that these are a blot on your beauty . And they become more prominent as you age. Let’s just debunk some of the myths as well as unearth some of the facts about the causes of these ‘ panda eyes ’.   Dark circles under eyes usually are temporary and not a medical concern. You may be surprised to learn that fatigue usually isn't the cause of dark circles. Instead, the most common cause is nasal congestion. When your nose is congested, veins that usually drain from your eyes into your nose become widened (dilated) and darker.
