Top Makeup Tips for Outdoor Summer Music Festivals and Events

One of the best things about the summer is that it's the time of year when you can enjoy some of the best that entertainment has to offer, all with the outdoors serving as your backdrop. Whether it's hanging out in the hot sun at Bonnaroo or dancing under the starts at a local arts festival, with the right kinds of friends, food and fun, you can easily be outside for hours before even noticing that you haven't gone indoors once.

And if you're dressing to impress, after a couple of hours, it can really do a number on your face---your makeup face, that is. It doesn't have to, though. As a matter of fact, there are a few proactive things that you can do before stepping out into the atmosphere to keep your face looking "newly done" for as long as your feet can hold up.

Here are five of them:

Set your foundation. Based on how long you plan on being outside (and the time of day that you want to do it), it may be easier to go out sans the foundation or with a bit of bronzer, instead. But if you do want to have a full face of makeup, go with a cream base that is longwearing and make sure to set it with some translucent powder. Revlon has a ColorStay brand that is smudge-proof, which is really convenient when it comes to not having to recheck or reapply throughout the day.

Go for waterproof mascara. Whether you have tears rolling for laughing so hard with your friends or sweat dripping from dancing so much, unless you use mascara that is waterproof, you are bound to have the "raccoon-eye look" without it. Mascara is an ultimate makeup must, so make sure that you look for a brand that specifically says that it's waterproof. You'll be so glad that you did.

Opt for natural shades. This especially applies for if you're going somewhere while the sun is still out because sunlight provides a totally different effect on makeup colors than artificial light does. So, make sure that when it comes to eye shadow and blush that you select shades that complement your natural skin tones. A "night face" tends to be better for indoor engagements.

Sheer lips are always nice. Here's the thing that you have to keep in mind when it comes to your lips: You don't want to spend a whole lot of time reapplying lipstick or being told that you have some on your teeth or worrying that you're smearing it on people's clothes. A great way to alleviate all of that is to opt for wearing a sheer lip gloss that provides your lips with lots of sheen without all of the "extra". Luckily, there are some long-wearing lipsticks that you can buy at a local drugstore as well, but make sure you get those on referral. Some of them have a tendency to cause your lips to feather after only a couple of hours.

Make your own face mist. So, after being at a couple of Red Rocks concerts, you might have noticed that being outside for more than a couple of hours can have you feeling a bit dehydrated. Chances are, if your body is feeling a bit parched then so is your skin. There are a lot of recipes for making facial mist from the comforts of your own home. A really simple one requires a small spray bottle, filling it with distilled water and then adding three Vitamin E tablets to it (you can use a pin to open them up and squeezing the contents inside). Then, whenever your face is feeling a little dry, just lightly spray the mist onto it. It's provides a really subtle and pretty glow for next to nothing when it comes to the price.

Pore shrinking mask recipes from home

A face with large open pores when seen from close quarters doesn’t look so good. While it’s quite common for oily skins to have a tendency towards open pores, an attack of pimples also leaves ugly scars and open pores behind.  Even though the scars may fade away after some time, open pores appear to be more obstinate and hardly show any signs of shrinking.  Age also takes its toll by giving an uneven/pigmented tone to the skin and making the open pores more prominent. Heredity could also be a contributing factor in determining your pore size. It’s not easy to get rid of these pores or shrink them completely or permanently using serums, lotions or face packs. Even resorting to drastic chemical/surgical procedures at the dermatologist’s isn’t quite capable of giving satisfactory results.  Nevertheless, you can try and minimize their appearance at least temporarily with clever makeup and a few natural skin care masks such as these: * Cleanse your face with a mild ...

Home remedies for sleeplessness

The day dawns beautifully for those who have had a night of good sleep. But the same day drags on for those who have spent a disturbing, sleepless night. Sleep is a biological necessity even as eating and drinking are. Sufficient sleep renders a person normally sociable, lively and high-spirited. It’s a nature’s way of rejuvenating the person for the next day. Realize all this, and make sleep a physiological habit. The consequences of long time sleep deprivation can be very grave. Lack of sleep takes its toll on the skin and hair. It causes acne-breakouts and makes one look aged and haggard beyond years. Experts opine that during sleep as our metabolic rate falls, blood goes to those areas which need the most repairing. This also steps up the production of collagen and keratin, which aid the regeneration of skin cells and help resist premature ageing. So for a younger looking and a problem free skin you need to have a good quality of sleep every night.
