Medicinal uses of Bael (Bilva)

At least in India, most of us have heard of the Bael (Bilva) tree. The Bael tree has a religious significance attached to it. With a wise motive, our ancestors probably thought that if at all they attach an aura of religious sanctity to precious herbs and trees, the future generations, fraught with a feeling of reverence, will feel the compulsion to preserve and cherish them.

But are we doing that? No!! Indiscriminate felling of trees and wide spread deforestation is rampant, resulting in the loss of rare flora and fauna. The consequences of this merciless assault on nature by man to meet his immediate selfish needs will prove to be disastrous in the long run and backfire on him. Global warming, natural disasters, environmental pollution, ozone layer depletion - all these are the results of man’s insensitivity towards Mother Nature. So all of us should act now and do our bit to save the environment. Let’s go green before it is too late.

Now coming back to the topic of bael tree. Religious implications aside, let’s just not disregard its various other benefits, , its medicinal uses and the various home-remedies that it is used for! Having this tree in our surroundings cleanses and purifies the atmosphere. Almost all the parts – roots, leaves, fruit, and barks have a medicinal value. The Bael fruit, which is also called as wood apple is very hard and it has to be broken open to relish its juicy insides with zest.

Patients with diarrhea, dysentery, and Fever, especially those occurring in summer, should be given bael sherbet, alternating it with the holy basil fever potion. This is prepared by mixing the pulp of three ripe bael fruits in two glasses of water. Add sugar to taste. Adult dose: four tablespoonful 3-4 times a day. Give the patient plenty of water to drink, spaced out in between these periods.

Effective in constipation, diarrhea ,dysentery and peptic ulcer. Ripe bael fruit is regarded as best of all laxatives. It cleans and tones up the intestines. For best results. it should be taken in the form of sherbet. The unripe or half-ripe fruit is perhaps the most effective remedy for chronic diarrhea and dysentery where there is no fever.

Blame it on your genes or your lifestyle, but, you cannot deny the fact that these are a blot on your beauty . And they become more prominent as you age. Let’s just debunk some of the myths as well as unearth some of the facts about the causes of these ‘ panda eyes ’.   Dark circles under eyes usually are temporary and not a medical concern. You may be surprised to learn that fatigue usually isn't the cause of dark circles. Instead, the most common cause is nasal congestion. Home remedies for sleeplessness

The day dawns beautifully for those who have had a night of good sleep. But the same day drags on for those who have spent a disturbing, sleepless night. Sleep is a biological necessity even as eating and drinking are. Sufficient sleep renders a person normally sociable, lively and high-spirited. It’s a nature’s way of rejuvenating the person for the next day. Realize all this, and make sleep a physiological habit. The consequences of long time sleep deprivation can be very grave. Lack of sleep takes its toll on the skin and hair. It causes acne-breakouts and makes one look aged and haggard beyond years. Experts opine that during sleep as our metabolic rate falls, blood goes to those areas which need the most repairing. This also steps up the production of collagen and keratin, which aid the regeneration of skin cells and help resist premature ageing. So for a younger looking and a problem free skin you need to have a good quality of sleep every night.
