Can drinking tea make your skin darker?

L asks:  My 10 year old son often asks for tea but I reprimand him saying that his skin tone will get darker by drinking tea for that's what I have heard people around me say about giving tea to kids!  I have heard good things about teas like green and white tea, however!  So does drinking tea really make the skin dark? And what about lips - does it cause darkening in lips?  Please enlighten me on this! Why I won't use products that contain exfoliating beads

Being an oily skinned gal, I love face washes , body washes and exfoliating creams that contain those tiny colorful exfoliating beads. While massaging such a cream on my skin, it feels as if it is sloughing off my dead skin. And truly, my dull, greasy skin pretty much feels rejuvenated and alive after usage. But after reading this piece of news , I am kind of shocked!  The tiny plastic beads that being used in cosmetic products are finding their way in lakes and streams. Apparently this is contaminating water and is toxic to fish and other marine life. So a ban on such products is being proposed. Do check the video below for more details.

How Plastic Surgery Can Change Lives

Plastic and cosmetic surgery continues to gain good and bad connotations. Plastic surgery, a more general term, is used all around the world daily from cosmetic procedures to reconstructive procedures. I have never personally had any plastic surgery done but there are obvious downsides to plastic surgery such as downtime, pain, and possible side effects. These are all factors that must be discussed before the actual procedures because they are dangerous but there are also benefits that might be worth the risk. The benefits of plastic surgery are limitless. Because plastic surgeons are incredibly talented and educated, they have the ability to recreate almost anything.

The Science Of Beauty: What We Deem Desirable

Poets and artists have attempted to describe beauty practically since the beginning of recorded history. Some would argue that some of these folks managed to pin down the nature of beauty, while others maintain that true beauty is indescribable. Even today in our allegedly “sophisticated” society, many of us are at a loss when we’re told to explain the concept of beauty. After all, what may be beautiful for one person may not be for someone else. Beauty isn’t objective; it lies in the eye of the beholder, or so people have said.

Was This Tested on Animals or Not? Decoding the Confusing Labels

Like most people, I feel that it's wrong to blind and poison animals in order to test cosmetics, especially when superior non-animal test methods are readily available. So I buy only cruelty-free makeup and personal-care products. But going into a store and trying to pick out what is tested on animals and what isn't is about as easy as getting up at six in the morning to work out. Europeans have it easy. The European Union just banned sales of cosmetics that were tested on animals anywhere in the world. Problem solved. But on this side of the pond, we are still turning bottles and packages around in our hands, squinting confusedly at the fine print and giving ourselves crow's feet that we will soon need non-animal-tested wrinkle cream for. So, to save a few dollars on retinol, I researched the various product labels. Here's what I found.

What Makes Natural Beauty Products Better For You?

All women, no matter their age want to look and feel beautiful. For years beauty products have been designed to go on thick, cover up, and mask a women’s natural palette. In order to rise above this chemically altered, sometimes animal tested muck, a woman needs to be on alert when it comes to taking care of her skin. The earth thrives on its natural abilities of rejuvenation and renewal. The beauty products you choose should be able to do this for you too.

Tacky or Tasteful: Kelly Osbourne's $250K Manicure

We little people often marvel at the fantastic and frivolous star treatments that our favorite celebrities receive in their bid to make the "best dressed" lists for red carpet events. And most of us understand that the hair, makeup, clothing, and accessories are often provided free of charge by stylists and designers looking to take advantage of the ubiquitous name-dropping that is part and parcel of such events. And yet, it seems that there are still occasions where celebrities can go too far in their efforts to outdo their A-list brethren. Kelly Osbourne, cohost of E! show 'Fashion Police', apparently crossed the line when she showed up for the Emmys sporting $250,000 worth of glittering black diamonds on her nails after bragging about her stunning manicure via Twitter. But were people more ticked about the outrageous cost of her polish or the tactless way in which she shared the experience?
