It’s a known fact that high levels of cholesterol, especially LDL cholesterol in the blood contributes to atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries in the heart). Compared to other races, Indians are found to be genetically more predisposed to heart attacks. Hence all health conscious people should try and maintain normal cholesterol levels to prevent the risk of heart attacks. Not all cholesterol is bad. Normally LDL (Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol) cholesterol is referred to as bad cholesterol and HDL (High-density lipoprotein cholesterol) as good cholesterol.
These are some foods which help reduce cholesterol:
Barley and Oats, beans and citrus fruits-Their fiber flushes out cholesterol
Oat bran lowers LDL, rather quickly and it also raises HDL. Oranges and other citrus fruits have been shown in numerous animal and human studies to lower blood cholesterol.
Onion and garlic- Bulbs of protection
Onions have been found to dramatically raise HDL an average of 20-30% in 3 out of 4 heart disease patients. Garlic, another bulb from the same family as onion, also has a cholesterol- slashing effect. 10 cloves of raw garlic daily has been found to lower total cholesterol by 10% on average. Garlic juice(1/8 cup) causes a 30% drop in total cholesterol.
Wine and beer- Drink to your heart’s health
Wise men say that anything in moderation is not bad. This fact is substantiated below. A drink or two has been found to boost HDL However; the health risks of heavier drinks far outweigh the potential benefits for the heart.

ReplyDeleteOatmeal and oat bran-Oatmeal contains soluble fiber, which reduces your low-density lipoprotein (LDL), the "bad" cholesterol. Soluble fiber is also found in such foods as kidney beans, apples, pears, psyllium, barley and prunes. walnuts can significantly reduce blood cholesterol. Rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, walnuts also help keep blood vessels healthy and elastic. Almonds and some other nuts appear to have a similar effect

ReplyDeleteAn important part of your detoxification diet should be water, healing foods, vegetable juices, fats that heal, and unrefined sea salt.
ReplyDeleteEat primarily foods that contain live enzymes, "life force" and nutrients. "Foods" that lack these elements cause the body to become acid, produce mucous, and congest the intestinal tract. Over time, if you keep eating a poor diet, this congestion builds up, layer after layer, eventually forming a hardened layer of plaque in the intestin. This substance is known as "mucoid fecal plaque" and is believed to contribute towards a majority of the obstacles to optimal health.
A good detoxification diet will make your body ALKALINE. The acid/alkaline balance of your body needs to be managed. Most people today have an over acid body, primarily from a diet of acid-forming foods and stress.
