The Right Way to Take Care of Your Hair

Taking care of your hair involves setting up a good routine for yourself – one that you can follow every day.

The products you use on your hair and to support your hair health are also important.

Picking the wrong ones could do some damage to your hair, leaving it weak and unhealthy looking.

Pick the Right Brush for Your Hair Type

Have you ever wondered why there a seemingly endless amount of different types of brushes when you go to look for one at the drugstore or beauty supply shop?

The reason there are so many types of brushes is because there a lot of different types of hair!
Each brush is made for a different type of hair.

So if you have fine, thin hair, you’ll need a different type of brush than somebody with thick, curly hair.
Take a few minutes to go through the brushes and find out what hair type they’re best suited to.
Your hair will thank you.

Get to Know Your Shampoo

Like hair brushes, shampoos are all made for different hair types.

Choosing the one that’s best for your hair will do wonders for your locks.

There are a lot of different types of shampoos on the market, but for people with dry hair or hair that needs a little bit of volume, moisturizing shampoo can be helpful.

People with tough curls need a completely different shampoo.

Shampoos designed to relax the hair, smooth frizz and generally tame your hair are usually described simply as “relaxing.”

Don’t be afraid to experiment with different shampoos.
Just because one brand of a moisturizing shampoo, for example, didn’t work too well for you doesn’t mean that another brand wont.

It’s also a good idea to switch brands from time to time so your hair doesn’t get used to the shampoo.
Ladies with colored hair need to seek out a special shampoo as well, since some ordinary shampoos can strip the color from your hair, making that expensive dye-job look dull and faded way too fast.

Look for a shampoo designed specifically for color-treated hair whether you did the dying yourself or got it done by a pro at a salon.

Don’t Skip the Conditioner

Some people are tempted to skip the conditioner if they find a shampoo that they really love. That’s a mistake.

Conditioner works to keep the hair healthy and add some of the essential stuff back that even the best shampoos can take away.

If you’ve found a shampoo you like, check to see if the same company makes a complementary conditioner.

Using Hair Oil

Hair oil treatments are becoming more and more popular, but the truth is that they’ve been around for a long time.

Many women have been using them successfully for years, but you do need to pick the right one for your hair.

Moroccan Argan oil is getting a lot of attention lately, and many manufacturers are adding it to products for its myriad benefits.

Moroccan Argan oil is designed to give hair extra shine, restore smoothness, especially in the case of heat-damaged hair, and condition the hair in a way that will help protect it from the elements – at least for a little while.

Moroccan Argan oil can be found in many leave-in conditioning products and in hair oil treatments.
While Moroccan Argan oil treatments can work for all types of hair, people with dry hair may want to use the treatment once every two weeks, and people with typically oily hair will likely want to use the product less.

Other types of hair oil treatments exist as well.

Jojoba oil and olive oil treatments are good for all hair types.

Coconut oil and almond oil treatments are better suited to curly hair that tends to get frizzy or puffy.

Supplements

Taking care of your hair by using the right brush, shampoo, conditioner and oil treatment is important, but some people benefit from supplements. If you’re considering taking supplements for hair health, here’s what you should look for.

•    Vitamin C may help prevent hair loss. 500 to 1000 mg is recommended.
•    B vitamin complex reduces stress that causes hair loss.
•    Biotin helps support optimal hair health. In some cases biotin may be able to help regrow lost hair.
•    Vitamin A stimulates hair growth, which means new, healthy strands will pop up faster.
•    Vitamin E improves blood flow and circulation, which helps keep your scalp healthy. A healthy scalp equals healthy hair.

Your Beautiful Hair Having beautiful hair doesn’t take a lot of effort, you just need to make the right choices for you hair type.
Take your time in choosing the right products and you’ll see a positive change in your hairs health soon.

Try not to expose your hair to heat everyday, but when you do, use a product that protects your hair.

Get ends trimmed off regularly. If the 6 weeks comes since you got your hair cut but you don't want a new look, at least get 1/2" trimmed off.

Never use a brush on wet hair, it is very fragile and can break easily. Always use the comb on wet hair.

Trim the dead ends. Do not color it for awhile. Get a really really good deep conditioner, put a bag over your head and sit under the dryer. You can go to the salon and also try a hot oil treatment. You can also try a keratin treatment, but that's exspensive.

  8. STOP USING THE HEAT!! that's a biggy. if you absolutly HAVE to flat iron or curl or blow dry it make sure you use heat protectant. that can be bought just about anywhere.

  9. Oiling your hair with coconut oil may also help. By doing this, the pollution in the environment won't stick straight onto your hair and damage it. It will stick to the oil instead which can be
washed off when you get home.
