Aromatherapy sleep pillows and pillow mists

woman sleeping Lack of sleep can not only dull senses and leave us irritable for the rest of the day but can also wreak havoc on our skin, though there are far more grave consequences of long time sleep deprivation. When we do not get the required 7-8 hours of sleep our skin suffers and overtime leaves behind a dull, dehydrated and wrinkled complexion. This is especially noticeable in the fragile skin under the eyes in the form of  fine lines, dark circles or puffy bags.

A good night's sleep is a must if you want to improve the texture and the luminosity of your skin. Sleep is one of the best beauty treatments in your arsenal and can do amazing things to your skin. That's why they call it "beauty sleep". If daytime is about protection from UV rays, night time is all about healing.  During the day, the skin is subjected to the onslaught of of UV rays, pollution, dirt and other harmful environmental factors and during sleep the skin repairs itself to reverse this damage. Cell regeneration also happens more quickly during night than daytime. The quality and the quantity of sleep are also equally important to help keep your skin beautiful and resist premature aging.

Simply can't switch off? Then why not create a bedtime ritual like reading a book or a beauty regime that will lull your body into snooze mood. A warm bath is also a good idea. First raising your body's temperature in a warm bath, then dropping it as you step out sends blood away from the skin's surface, making you feel drowsy. You could also try aromatherapy. For some, aromatherapy works wonders in helping achieve a restful night.  Although there are several essential oils that can be used to help you relax or make it easier to get to sleep there are a few that are particularly good in fulfilling those needs. Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Lavender Chamomile pillow mist And some of those are lavender, chamomile, bergamot, sandalwood and mandarin. Studies have shown that lavender is especially good at calming the nervous system, relaxing the body and enabling blissful sleep. It can also be used as a mild painkiller for headaches, insect bites, cuts and wounds. You can add a few drops of lavender oil in a warm bath at night or a scented sleep pillow. To make a scented pillow, spray a bit of lavender oil or any of the above mentioned essential oils or a combination of these onto your regular pillow, then put on the pillow case and you are done.  If you are not comfortable with the idea of spraying essential oils on your own, you could try using Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Lavender Chamomile ~ Sleep ~ Pillow Mist. It might also be better than a flat pillow case in allowing your skin to "breathe", partly due to being fluffy, and possibly also because towels are usually 100% cotton, whereas a lot of sheets are polyester and cotton mixes.
