As with any surgery there are pros and cons and you should not go ahead with the procedure without a through understanding of the procedure, the risks, recovery time etc. You won't be able to sit normally for several weeks following the surgery. There are also other complications such as infection and the issue of anesthesia. In addition, it's important to choose a board certified cosmetic surgeon. It is unlikely to be covered by standard insurance unless it is being done to correct a defect or injury, but even then you should consult with your insurance provider first. Finally, anyone considering this should make sure they've tried other alternatives first such as diet and exercise.
