Winter lip care

Dry chapped lips are a common problem in winter. Some of these tips may help:
* Apply Vaseline or butter on your lips as many times as possible during the day. This will keep them well moisturized.
* If your lips have split use a medicated lip-balm to heal them.
* Do not bite or chew your lips to remove the dry flakes.
* Avoid licking your lips frequently.
* Use a lip balm with an SPF factor as a base before applying a lipstick.
* Use creamy lipsticks instead of matte ones.

Lip exfoliating:
You can exfoliate your lips with just a toothbrush and a little Vaseline or butter. Brush the lips gently to remove the dry flakes. Rubbing lemon juice or glycerin will also exfoliate the dead skin cells caused due to various factors like cold weather, smoking etc. and restore the original smoothness and color.

tend to dry out the fastest at this time of year. Be sure to keep them covered with a good lip balm applied several times during the day. Warm sesame oil will also soothe your lips . Avoid licking your lips and don't bite the skin on the surface of your lips. The skin will never have a chance to heal if you chew on it. This is a hard habit to break but well worth the effort. Lip balms are now commonly available with an SPF factor as well to protect them from the harmful rays.

I'd like to add some more tips:
    * You can mix one-tablespoon cranberry sauce juice with two tablespoons Vaseline for a delicious home made lip balm.
    * Apply the juice of lemon skin to avoid lips from becoming black.
*Massage your lips with coriander leaf juice for soft and rosy lips.

Blistex is the best thing I have found after you have it. The "sticks" only work to "prevent" it. Get some Blistex liquid and use it often for the next day or so and you'll be fine.

  7. I, too, have tried so many products to keep my lips from getting chapped. I haven’t had any problems or bleeding since I tried Aloette Platinum Lip Treatment several years ago. It is a bit expensive unless you watch for the specials. I won’t live without it now!

To get this retro pop of color, opt for a matte finish — the lips should never be frosted or glimmery, but rather fresh and romantic.

  11. Licking lips - don't do that under any circumstances! It will make them even more dry than before. Apply an unflavored lip balm on your lips instead

Instead of constantly buying little plastic vials and tubes of lip balm, save yourself the money and prevent the extra consumption by using jojoba oil, virgin olive oil, vegetable oil or cocoa butter on your smackers when they feel a little dry. If you want to exfoliate, you can mix olive oil and sugar in a mixture and rub against chapped lips to get rid of dry areas.

I would suggest you make sure you are properly hydrated. Dehydration causes chapped lips, so drink lots of water. The one chapstick that I really like that works is the Walgreens brand chap-aid. The sugar thing may work, it would probably be better to use some sort of oil instead of water. I use canola oil and sugar as a face scrub once in awhile.

  16. you simply needs the boost from the inside--drink lots of water and eat more fruits and veggies--it's the best source of good nutrients and vitamins needed by our skin.
then moisturize your lips using lip treatments.
Murad or simply the cheaper brands like Chapsticks work just as good.
To exfoliate it is pretty easy, olive oil and some sugar will help.Honey and sugar will be good as well.

  17. You may be longing for those soft and supple lips. Here’s how to go about that. Make a paste of half a spoon of hot cocoa with a few drops of hot water and massage your lips with that to get the desired effect.

Keep in mind that cracks at the corners of your mouth can indicate riboflavin deficiencies; you can treat this with vitamin B-2 supplements.
Use a humidifier to moisturize the air in your home, helping to prevent both dry lips and skin.
Use an oil-based lubricating cream, such as Aquaphor Healing Ointment, or lip balm containing petrolatum or beeswax.
Choose a lip cream or balm that contains sunscreen. Sun exposure contributes to chapped lips.

Put a hot towel over them (dont push) and leave it there for 30-60 seconds. Then put veggie or cooking oil on them, and keep them closed. In 5 minutes wipe it off. There, soon your lips should be soft and healed! If you don't have any cooking/veg/olive oil, use salt water!

Dry lips can be treated by spreading a thin layer of honey on them. Honey is very useful when it comes about healing dry, irritated skin. You can apply honey on your face, especially during winter, when the skin is damaged by the cold air. These beauty tips and tricks are great because you don't put all the chemicals from commercial face creams and lotions on your skin.
